The Crunch was my first Leatherman, bought for me by my considerably better half, as a birthday / coming home present after an operation that I might not have come home from.

It is a fantastic tool obviously, but in my case it also marks perhaps the most significant period in my life, and I will treasure it always. I do use it, but not on anything that might damage it. I have no desire to "test" it at all.

Maybe I'll pick one up as a beater one day and see what it can do - I suspect quite a bit.

It is one of my favorite LM's . I think it is there cleverest design.
Def , next time you are talking to the LM movers & shakers could you please ask them if they have any plans to update the Crunch.I suspect it probably does not sell enough to warrant the R&D $

You are absolutely right on that one Mat.  I love the Crunch and use it pretty often myself, but it's not likely that we'll see any variants of it soon.  The unfortunate part is, that design is just not popular enough, which is why all of the other locking plier based multi designs went the way of the dodo.  My guess is, Leatherman is using it as a means to hold on to that segment of the market and keep anyone else from moving in on it.

Isn't the crunch the only vise grip multi left? The schrade tough grip and kershaw's offering are gone now and I can't think of any other tools like it out there.

So it's been a full week of me carrying my Crunch and here is my report. When paired up with a quick opening knife the Crunch is the best performing multitool i have ever used. I have the habit of putting it in my back pocket between uses so i don't have to assemble it for every use. I even put the bit driver to use troubleshooting an electrical amp. My one wish is they put a regular drop point blade instead of the serrated blade.

My second favorite is the Wave with the outside opening blades..which are missed when carrying the Crunch. That's why i carry my cold steel recon 1 clipped to my dickies.


On a side note it was funny when a coworker couldn't make heads or tails of my Crunch when i handed it to her. The other guys thought it was amazing and asked where they could get one.

i have carried a crunch almost exclusivly for the past year. it excels at every task i need it for.standout features for me are the wire stippers and of couse the bit driver. enornomously versitle tool. the locking pliers are fantastic. one day i'll  get around to j.b.weld-ing a pocket clip on there...i just know it

I'm a huge Crunch fan, and have carried it along side other MTs for about 1.5-2 years now.  It's always been a great help, and I sometimes call it my third hand.  (no beer belly, so can't claim that one...)    Love the design, but was surprised by how much smaller it seemed to be than my initial impression from online pics...

The clip option from felinevet is AWESOME!  I put one on my Juice CS4 and it just plain works.  Best part?  If you don't like it, it's easy to remove too.

I keep one in a leather pouch in my front pocket. It's my back-up/compliment for my ST300

I have my Crunch paired up with a Surge in a small tool kit.

I got mine from J-sews, who was kind enough to pick one up for me in the US.. That way I got it at 1/3 of what retail price
is here in DK...   It's a real piece of engineering...
