How do you like the Kershaw. I saw these and they seem VERY affordable.

I've found the kershaw starter to be quite heavy, to be honest. Since the handles themselves are made of stainless steel and there's no skeletonized liners it adds up to the weight...feels like 7.5 ounces. The hollow grind on the blade is really nice though. If I was wearing gloves, this can be good for skinning. The angles on the bevel on both sides make for very easy resharpening...for 19 dollars its a steal

Oh yea. I know the thing is a brick. I was looking at one for a beater to take fishing. The only thing that stopped me is it does not offer tip up carry.

Picked up a new toy the other day, carrying it along with my favorite Wave today.

I just got some expendable funds and was seriously considering a Griptillian, but keep talking myself out of it. My only concerns are for the $100 price tag I wan't a S30V blade and I heard the handles really feel cheap. I also do not wan't to pay extra for assisted opening, black blade, colored scales because then your in the $130-$140 range. Now i'm not bad mouthing the Griptillian at all as I really wan't one, but for some reason I just can't pull the trigger on one. When the Para II is in stock I can get it for $106 shipped which I feel is a better bang for your buck. Basically i'm asking what you think and please talk me into buying a Griptillian.  :D

@ the capt. I like the mini grips much more.
I have the 556 and my next one will be the 555HG.
The 551H2O has a N680 blade if that is more your thing.

Two words for you there Capt... Axis Lock :D.

But a little more seriously, I really like theses knives. Especially the models with the hole opener rather than the thumb stud. This is my second full size and I also owned a mini for a short time as well. Compared to G10 scales, yes, I think the handles feel a little cheaper but they feel plenty strong enough and provide decent grip. I believe the scales are made of a material that is very similar to what you'd find on a run of the mill Delica or Endura.

My favorite attribute to these Benchmades has to be the axis lock. It's quite versatile, ambidextrous, and strong. Plus, it has to be one of the most fun locks to play with. Flick out the blade on these knives and they lock up with a very authoritative clack.

Now if I could buy a PM2 for the same price as the what I paid for my Griptilian then I would have to choose the Spyderco. These Griptilians can be had for under $60, I got mine brand new on closeout for that price and have seen them sell on eBay for $50-$60. I feel they are a really good knife for that price.

The Axis Lock really is not a selling point for me. I personally do not like the Axis Lock all that much. As you might know I do not use EBAY for a few different reasons, but if I could find a Grip or Min Grip (especially the Olive with black blade) for $50-$60 like you got yours then I would buy one. Do you know of any places online I could order one for that price? Thanks.  :tu:

Online other than ebay, no. I got mine from an AAFES store on closeout. I'll keep an eye out for another. They sometimes have very good deals on knives and multitools. That BO Swiss Tool I traded you a while back cost me a whopping $20 and I also picked up a sharpmaker for under $20. I haven't seen any deals like those in a while but I keep looking and hoping. :salute:

I have not carried either of these in a while so they got the call to duty today. I'm thinking the Cadet might get put back into rotation for a while.
