20th Anniversary Wave (just for Tinnie )
on: June 03, 2009, 01:57:50 PM
I could not help myself when I saw a NIB/clamshell 20th Anniversary Wave on US ebay. With Dennis's help I was able to snag the 'Black Beauty'  8) 8)

I was surprised LM only decorated one side/handel with the white print(cheap smurfs  :P)

Next to my standard original Wave. The original Wave is a early model original, black beauty is a updated original(it has plier clips on the inside of the handles & slightly different pliers) see pic below

The other handle's date code instead of a A after the date has a B

Crappy sheath came with black beauty, the standard Wave's leather sheath is much better :(. Interestingly LM made a special sheath for the 25th Anniversary Waves

The finish is like black oxide but shinier . Pics next to my BO PST

The linner lock ramps look like they will ware like a BO finish

Hi MultiMat,

Glad to see that you snagged this.  Now for the bad news!  There are two 20th Anniversary Waves.  The other is all black (TiN I think) in a presentation case with a 20th year pin.  Took me quite a few years to find one.  Many appeared to go to Japan (Ebay) for serious money.

Good luck & congrats on your find.

Best - Joe

Congrats on a fine acquisition there Mat! :salute: The black finish on the 20th Wave is so much better than standard BO don't you think? Mmmm, smooth and silky. Spread a little drop of oil on it and the finish absolutely glows. :)

Oh hang on, I'm starting to get aroused just thinking about it! :D

Thought I'd bring this one back from the past  :D

notice how the file and saw sit higher in the closed position on the newer 20th Anniversary Wave then on the older std one .Look at the nail nicks and you can see they sit higher. You will also notice some spring in the closed blade when you push down , this is because the little indent which brings the blade to a halt in the open position sits on the liner lock in the closed position.

If any of that makes sense  ::)

OOOO me too! I recently acquired my own 20th wave, super mint.

If I recall, the black is a DLC that is found on the Skeletool CX.

This looks kind of like an original Wave, but with 2004 Wave scissors. What's the deal?

Anyways, I do really like that finish - beautiful
