In movie defiance, the russian commander use an old soldier to arm the mine (turn a screw). I'm suprised they tracked down one for this 2008 movie about WWII.

I'm going to be slightly picky and say that it's an Officers knife not the Soldier, but a great spot mate.  :salute:

I've never seen any of the old knives and have no clue which is which, the soldier was just a wild guess.  :)

The Soldier models are easily recognized because they do not have any bottom mounted tools.

Prior to the 1960's, Soldiers were made with a Fiber type scale material and a single bolster on one end. Even further back the scales were made of wood.

Back in 1897 the Elsener family decided to make an "Officier's" knife with a couple of more tools in the same 2 layers.

Great catch on the media use of an old Swiss Army knife!

By the way, was the movie worth watching? I have yet to see it and not sure if I want to.

I'd agree, I don't think it's in the running for any Oscars but it's perfectly watchable.
