Looks like a SOG rebrand to me, didn't know they make it for others.

I was feeling brave so I snagged one, I'll let you know,
I can always give it to my brother if I dislike..I've been on the lookout for a deal for him

10.41 after shipping with a cheapie pair o' gloves

i would think it at least has to be licensed since they appear to be making use of their compound leverage component..

SOG also had some of their tools double branded with the SOG logo and the Eddie Bauer logo (possibly others as well).

...and there were some SOG-like tools made for Harley Davidson and Stanley (possibly others as well) by United Cutlery??? that may be knockoffs or licensed products:

From this post in the "SOG Tool List" thread.

I don't know if anyone actually knows, best bet would be licensed copy. Hell, isn't there an SOG dude on this forum. Someone PM him!

Looks legit to me...although I've never seen those torx pins holding together any SOG.

I'm going by things like the serrations on the blade and the look of the overall inner tools...nothing screams out FAKE at all...good deal if this is real!

Both the Stanley Max Edge model and the Harley Davidson HD29 are made by SOG. Good find jzmtl! :salute:

That's good to hear...I was kinda second guessing the purchase. I was worried maybe the components wouldn't be swappable or something awful like that. I second the good find jzmtl. Thanks.

A SOG tool as a freebie?   Seems too good to be true,  but I couldn't resist.
I ordered a vest from them to get the free tool.

Hrmph... IIRC there were rumors that the "Stanley SwitchPlier" would crumble to pieces at the sight of anything resembling "work"... I hope that's not true for the PowerPliers as well... :-\

Stanley's version of the SwitchPlier wasn't made by SOG.  It was Bob's Stanley tool that disintegrated, so it is a verifiable story, but I believe others have used theirs without problems.

SOG does lots of rebrands- look at the Paladin line as well.

They sell reflective vests for as low as $9, and any purchase qualifies for the freebie.
I spent a bit more to get a fleece-lined one.

I bought a pair of gloves for 2.70. I looked quite a bit and it was the cheapest thing.

I got a confirmation on the order which included the tool with the "lead" listed as "stock". In the space for a note on the order I made sure to write that I wished to be contacted if there were any problem with the order at all, but the thought that I might get a box with only gloves in it with a note that says sorry did cross my mind.  ???

We'll see. I would hope that their system could keep up with stock levels, regardless of whether it was a promotional item or not.

Also I didn't see any post for this on slickdeals or any of the other deal sites so maybe that will help them from being bombarded.

It's an expensive pair of crappy gloves otherwise.

Nice snap, although it looks slightly different than the other ones pictured. How about that...it even says made in the USA.

I have found if you let the order sit for a day and don't do anything with it they will offer you 20% the order.

ha, I got the same email. But that's only because they don't tell me what shipping is up front and I'd rather not find out the hard way.
