I looked in about a million and one WalMarts ans Staples, and came up dry. Then I hit an Office Max. They had them with an introductory "buy one get on free" sale. So I got two for $6.99 USD. Nice!!!!!

Hint - They weren't with the other Sharpies in the pen isle. They were on a cardboard endcap with a bunch of other various branded "back to school" items. I found them on my own, after two Office Max employees searched the whole store, and then told me that they didn't sell them.

I bet Sharpie would be very pleased to know that their premium product is being so actively sold. ::)  Good fine on the 2 for 1. :tu:

Finally picked one up at a pen specialty shop a while ago. Not impressed with it. very thin shell with plastic mid section, coupled with thickness gives a very cheap feeling, and seems no more durable than regular sharpie. Especially for the price you can buy a whole pack of plastic sharpies. I'd stick with the cheap plastic one.

Interesting...

I've been using one at work for a couple weeks and have to say I'm pretty impressed.  It's really no better than the plastic ones, but it's fairly tough and the SS shell is pretty thick in reality.  It stands out, so it hasn't "walked off" yet.

Haven't had anything to complain about it.

+1

That is exactly what I thought. I actually prefer the regular Sharpie over the SS version, even if there were all the same price!  :P

I still hope they create an ultra fine point SS Sharpie though. I just hope the design is more like a regular SS pen instead of this bulky, half plastic, monstrosity.

I personally really like mine.  Not exactly sure what you guys are expecting TBH.  It's a "Stainless steel Sharpie" and that's exactly what it is.  For the money, I think people are expecting too much.

It's too fat, not enough substance to warrant that. If it's same thickness as plastic sharpie it's fine, but for this size I expect something more substantial. Plus the plastic mid section distract from the whole stainless feel.

I personally prefer a fatter pen, so that's only a bonus for me.  And the plastic section is the refill.  If they were to make it SS they would only have people complaining that the refills were too costly.

I'm not talking about the refill. The shiny ring and thread refill screws into is plastic. As for cost, my zebra F701 has all stainless shell that's much thicker, and cost the same as SS sharpie. If sharpie made the shell same thickness as F701 it would feel much better.

Not an issue for me.  I'm using it in a dissection room to write notes and diagnoses.  In this real world situation, it works perfectly well.  The benefits are it stands out from the standard sharpie so people don't pilfer it and the fine point is much easier to work with.

Personally, I'm pleased.

Sure it works just fine, but I like my pens to have a certain feel/look as well.

Meh, guess I'm just picky, same goes for my knives/tools.
