a neat little knife
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:05:51 PM »
i've had this little thing for years and never seen another like it an i want to share it with you guys. it has a inique (to me). folding feature. the blade is a little over 1 1/2" and of carbon steel. the blade cover is about 2" and appears to be brass that is plated in a silver mettle. the overall length when closed is 2 1/2" and roughly 4 1/2" when open. there are no markings on the blade but the handle has: Carolina Gas & Oil C0.... Dan H. McCachern (?) on one side and J. W. DeYoung on the other. i feelthat it was carried and likely used by Mr. DeYoung and that it must have been a gift to him from Carolina Gas & Oil Co.
check it out.

AG Russell has had a model like that for sell for several years now; however, your knife is one of the originals on which the remake was modeled. :)

[Edit:  Found the contemporary model:  http://www.agrussell.com/ag-russell-funny-folder-aluminum-and-aus-8/p/RUShhhFF3AL/]

That's a neat little knife.  Not seen anything like it over here.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

thanks for tha link sazabi... the non Ti version look like a good substitute for the Carolina knife.
i've always wanted to carry it but it is too special for some reason. the russell looks like a good alternative. i wish i could get one in carbon. that would be nice.

Thanks for sharing that knife Sappyg.  I'd never seen it before you and the guys posted the link to A.G.
It's a beaut and a collectible for sure.  :)

Those are nice little knifes i bought one at a gun show in Boise about a month ago. When i was kid in the 60s and 70s those knifes were give aways. My dad was a auto mechanic tool truck and automotive additive guys would give those away with their logos on them.
