Please post your PST II date codes
on: November 11, 2009, 03:04:53 PM
I recently bought a PST II from another forum and was surprised it didn't have the PST II Stamp.  I have been informed that many PST II's aren't stamped with PST II on them.  David posted that he has a PST II with date codes 0398 and 0498 that doesn't have a PST II stamp and one with date codes 1198 and 1198 that does have PST II stamps.  Going by David's example I would imagine it happened sometime between 0498 and 1198.  I'd like to narrow it down to the month.  So if you get the chance could you check out your PST II's and see what your date codes are.  Mine are 0197 & 0297 without a PST II stamp.  Thanks.

Oddly enough, I think I only have one PST II.  I'll dig it out later and check the date codes.

Where is the date code?
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

So far it seems that the PST II stamp was added sometime between 0498 & 1198.  I would really love to see if people with date codes in that range have PST II stamps or not.  But then again it's just speculation on my part.  Especially if someone comes up with a PST II without a PST II stamp after 1198.

I only have 2 at the moment.

One has the date codes O7/97 and 08/97. Handles are not marked PST II.

The other has the following date codes 02/97 and 08/02. The 97 handles are not marked PST II, the other half dated from 02 is marked PST II.
A little Leatherman information.

No PST II on handles:

1197 & 1297
0697 & 0697

With PST II on handles:

0903 & 0804 (must be just about one of the last made - I did get it NIB)

I'll check my daughter's tomorrow as she's in bed now :)

I used to come here a lot.

Welcome to the Forum rix,   Does your PST II have the PST II stamp on it?  I'm guessing it probably doesn't but I'm curious to know.

I'd like to see if anyone has any PST II's with date codes between 0498 and 1198.  Everyone's prior to 0498 is not stamped PST II and any after 1198 are stamped PST II.  If we could get PST II's with date codes between 0498 and 1198 would could probably narrow it down to the month the transition took place.

Thanks for the welcome!

No PSII on the handle just "Leatherman Tool Portland Oregon". Not even sure if it is a II or I.
I stopped liking it when it attacked me and cut my finger due to a insecure lockup on the blade. Went to the Gerber then.  Now just got Cx and a Wave, trying to get them loosened up. Still partial to the Gerb due to the crimper.

If it has scissors it's a PST II.  Also the file is different between the PST and the PST II.

cbee303,

I'm guessing you have the PST II stamp on the handles?  That is what I am trying to find out.  It seems PST II's with date codes before 0498 do not have the PST II stamp on the handles.  Those that have date codes after 1198 do have the PST II stamp on the handles.  I was hoping to find members with dates between 0498 and 1198 to further narrow the time down to when Leatherman actually put the PST II stamp on the MT.  Thanks for posting.

There was a umarked PST II I was going to try and get as the seller told me the date codes were 0798 and 0898 but it when for much more than I want to give for it so I dont have the PST II to varify the info. I`ve bought several tools from this seller and he has always given accurate info in the past. So if this info is accurate the gap would seem to be narrowed down some.

Great information. :tu:    I doubt the guy would have any reason to give wrong date stamps.  So that narrows it down to between 0898 to 1198.  The plot thickens.  Thanks for the info David.

It appears that you have narrowed the date down to between 0898 & 1198.  That is pretty good, all we need now is to find some PST II's with date codes within those date ranges.  Anything before doesn't have the PST II stamp and everything after does have it.  We need to hear from someone who has date stamps 0998 & 1098 as to whether PST II is stamped on it.  Good work David.
