Frankly I don't think any amount of "bashing" or politics, including the Break Room is acceptable.   All it seems to do is upset people, and there is no chance of actually accomplishing anything, if in fact members managed to agree on anything in the first place.  Political discussions are like masturbation with no release.  Even if there was a promise of some kind of happy ending, it wouldn't amount to anything.

If off topic discussion, including politics, was limited to the Break Room it'd be a huge improvement.

People shouldn't have to wade through political crap while reading threads in the SAK and tool subforums.

If people want to read and participate in off topic stuff, they could find it over in the Break Room.

If people don't like off topic stuff, they could read all the rest of MTO without ever encountering it, just by staying out of the Break Room.

I think off topicness is fine, just not so controversial off topic stuff. I think it hurts the whole forum.

Lets have a poll where everyone who votes states in a post what they voted for. Run it for a week and go by what everyone wants.

Or, here's a wild idea, how about we just do what the owner and boss says in the first place.  ;)
