I was oiling and polishing one of my swords last year and accidentally dropped it.  Landed a bit like your Skeletool up there but much deeper.  It missed my foot by about 2mm.  That could have been a fun trip to the emergency department.

:o That reminds me of this story: :D

Cat ran off with severed toe

A cat ran off with its owners toe after he accidentally chopped it off and then left it on the floor while he called an ambulance.

Udo Ried, 41, was slicing bread in his kitchen in Luebeck, Germany, when he dropped a large kitchen knife onto his bare foot, chopping off his second toe.

While Ried was hopping to the bathroom to get a bandage and at the same time using his mobile phone to call emergency services, his cat Fritz pounced on the bloody toe and ran off with it into the garden.

Ried tried to get the toe back but after a few minutes he was forced to abandon the search to seek medical attention.

A spokesman for Luebeck hospital said they would have been able to reattach the toe if the cat had not stolen it......
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

The Charge has a bit more weight in it, and I guess the type of flooring would make a bit of difference. Is it really bad?

The only blade I've ever damaged that way was on a little Boker knife - flattened the tip quite badly, landing on terracotta tiles :( I did a bit of crude re-profiling and it's OK now.

I damaged one of my swords once during practice swings - I was too close to a wall and caught the tip on the wall.  Left a nasty mark in the wall and a bent sword tip (about 5mm).  Some pliers, some attention with a sharpening stone and a polishing and you can't tell anymore.  Still cuts beautifully - excellent sword.
