GEC group shots!
« on: December 06, 2009, 05:33:22 PM »
Was a bit bored this morning and the weather was decent, had some of my GEC's out for a little cleaning to be put away in some new knife cases I have......figured I'd get some group photos taken of the collection thus far.

Pics are of all the same knives just mixed'em up a bit........

Let's see your GEC's!  :pok:

FF,

One of these days I'll get a group shot of my Case Collection. My GEC's together are pocket change compared to what I have spent over the years on Case knives.

texasflyfisher,

440-C is my favorite blade steel (also fond of 154CM/ATS-34 & CPM154), and one I wish more makers would use in their slippies. That yellow Scout is from their new "Yellow Rose" series, the shield is a nickle/silver Rose. Here's a close up.............

I had to Google to find out who GEC was; I found one of their sellers and, after seeing the prices, nearly fainted. @_@;  I'm happy the few Case knives aren't nearly that much. ;_;

Sazabi,

Just depends on which Case knives you buy.......I collect and carry Case Gunboat Canoes. And while I have found some good deals on them, quite a few of my Case Gunboats costed more than most of my GEC's. And to compare, while the fit and finish are nearly equal, though the GEC's have a bit finer overall fit, nearly all of my GEC's are bladed in 440-C. All of my Case Gunboats are 420HC.

Finding the Case knife for me is going to be expensive, I have a feeling, now. :/  Granted, I'm not looking for a size-of-my-hand Case knife, just a discrete, nice looking suit knife, is all. :)

Sazabi,

In the smaller patterns of general production by Case they are quite inexpensive. It's all in which Case knife or knives you buy. They have inexpensive patterns and models, and they have real pricey ones. The Gunboat Canoes are a large frame pattern with swedged blades and lots of steel and nickle/silver, so they tend to be a bit costly.

GEC is the same but one average their prices are a bit more expensive. But many of their models can be had for below $100.00........here's a good place to look for GEC's: http://www.collectorknives.net/greateastern.html
