SOG's new knives for 2010?
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:54:59 PM »
This is being discussed on another forum and thought I would see what you folks think as well. Looks to me that it looks alot like a Spyderco Delica or Endura with a messed up opening hole. Is this like another case of the Skeletool/Crucial or something different?

Looks like a weird cross between endura and cara cara.

I don't care for SOG's folders, but some of their fixed blades are ok.

I think the point of the incomplete hole is so it's not a total copy of Spyderco. :D

My first ever SOG knife was a first gen tiger shark.  Back then SOG was awesome when you had a blade from them it was sharp and functional and useful. I remember back in the day saying you had a SOG told everyone you had a quality knife.  Now not so much.  It's sad but every year they come out with more gimmicks and items that just plan suck.  It brings down the over all image of the company,  Things like the kilowatt and the muscle car and now these knives just make me ashamed of loving SOG like I do/did,  I don't understand what happened to them but more and more SOG as a company leaves me scratching me head

I honestly just hope the multi tools don't start to suck as well.  As far as I'm concerned their knives,  both folders and fixed have sucked for a while now.  All in one day we got a peice of great news with them re issuing the micro tool clip and then we got sucky news  with this post.

What happened to "SOG ingenuity"?  This is a total rip off.  Oh well

I don't have the history with SOG that you do Witmen but I too have to wonder what happened to them. The line that starts with the Kilowatt and runs through the Muscle Car and Contractor 2x4 and then last years Fish On! are surely the most ill conceived knives ever made. How out-of-touch must a company be with its consumer base to ever let crap ideas like these get past the drawing board? :P

On a related note, I'm anxiouly awaiting news of what this year's new theme knife will be. ::)

Exactly,  How could they think making knives like those were a good idea?

HOLD ON! ... don't be bashing them without having any sales figures. :D

Who knows? Maybe the bikecurious really do love that motorcycle folder?

As to it being a rip off... this time I can only agree.
And I don't think that'd work as a wave.

lol I loved that episode of South Park,  I ride a crotch rocket. But I know a lot of Harley guys,  and they were all very offended.  Matt and Trey are braver then I am.  I wouldn't want to call every biker in the world the things they called them.

That hole design is a bit of an eye roller for me ::)  Whats up with that?  Were they thinking
fully closed = lawsuit?  :D  They do have that Spyderco Endura thing going on with it for sure.
Interesting that they seem to be going in the direction of foreign steels which
might not be so surprising.  People have been crying for years that Sog needs a higher
end steel than their Aus-8.
