Some people we've met so far
on: January 21, 2010, 08:20:38 AM
Last year I posted some pics of some of the famous and/or interesting people we had met at the show, and well it looks like we have some serious star power going on this year as well!  Here's a few of the folks we have had the pleasure to meet so far:

Brian Tighe, knife designer:

Bob was lucky enough to get an audience with Spencer Fraser from SOG:

Peter Hug, CEO of Wenger SA:

Michael D. Janich, self defense instructor, knife designer:

Les De Asis, CEO of Benchmade:

J. Bruce Voyles, Editor of Knives Illustrated magazine:

Glenn Klecker, knife designer (and the guy what done the Skeletool!):

Bob wins this round with this one though:

What did he win?  A chance to test out SOG's new folding shovel!

Careful Bob- that astroturf looks tough!

What's that? You meant you could have spent all this time writing up about new tools?

Disappointing Def. Disappointing. :D

In all seriousnessicity though. I'm jealous. :(
Is it just me or are most knife designers... portly?

hehe that was an awesome show... we used to watch it when we lived in the UK... even did a radio show trailer spoof of it for one of the DJs.

We visited SOG yesterday and they had 40+ new items to show us.  It'll take a while for us to get through all the new products and pictures for SOG, so bear with us.  Yesterday was a long one, and while today seems a little more relaxed, we have a BIG meeting first thing that we have to run off to.  Some company called Leatherman... I never heard of them but Bob starts drooling at the mere mention of their name, so I guess they are important!

Oh, and yes, those are new Micro Toolclips, and yes, we have pictures.  Bob was even smart enough to bring his old one with him, so we have some great comparison pics!

Why does Bob look so surprised?

You guys meet some pretty cool people.  Did Peter Hug present you with your very own Patagonian Wenger in that photo or was he taking it back from you?

Can't wait to see more photos!

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

Here's some more!

Bob's got a new friend!

This is me and Boker's marketing manager, Noelle, right after she showed me a bunch of really cool knives that Boker has.

We were lucky enough to meet up and hang out with Bob Reichardt from Pock-its.com, and he was lucky enough to meet the recently retired Miss Nevada!

The Bobs also found another lovely lady at Darley Defense Inc, a company I had never heard of before that supplies military and law enforcement with all kinds of goodies.  I'm not in this pic because I'm too busy playing with a really cool extendable breacher bar!

Oh yeah, and I met another guy some of you may have heard of- Chris Reeve!  :D

Tragically this nice lady was only interested in guys named Bob.

Last but not least, here's Bob & Bob having a great time with a nice lady from Aimpoint, a company that makes rifle scopes.

I think that's everyone that allowed us to get a picture with them, but I'll be sure to dig through our pics to be sure we didn't miss any!

I forgot this one- thanks to Bob for reminding me!  When we were at Bear and Son Cutlery's booth, we met with the Big Bear (Ken Griffey) and his son Matt.  It was great to finally meet the man, and hopefully we may be seeing more about Bear here in the future!

Chris is a pretty awesome guy alright. :salute: We had a discussion with him about his roots in South Africa and his subsequent emigration to the U.S. For awhile after that he still contracted certain blanking and rough machining of his knives to small shops in South Africa in order to help them deal with the crushing 35% unemployment.
