Color me impressed
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:58:53 PM »
Lets keep this hush, hush you know to ourselves. I don't want those guys over in the Swiss forum to hear about this.

Okay now that you all swore I can tell you

I traded a Vic Spirit for a ST300 (quiet)

Ever since I saw those massive jaws in a banner here I wanted one and GG had one, since I never carried my Spirit a trade was made.

All I can say is OMG I loved the Super Tool when it first came out and I was a fan of Leatherman all the way up to the Wave (old school)
then after that I found a Swiss Tool and everything just fell short IMO.

I took this puppy out yesterday for a test drive and it handle wonderfully. Prying off hubcaps, cutting cables, tightening side post on a battery this thing was unstoppable.

I love the replaceable cutters (that just makes me feel good) that way if you mess them up you either repair them yourself or get a new set with allen wrench and screws included (ten dollars) or you do both and just have a spare set later.

Now what attracted me to the Swiss Tool was the "non clumping" of the tools but I will tell you what, today in 21 degree weather with no gloves on
I dropped my ST300 in the snow, shook it off and opened it and got my tools out with no problems (cold, wet hands and all).

I think Tim Leatherman did GOOD on this one...   Thanks to the ST300 I am a fan again.    Thanks for keeping my secret.

The ST300 pulled me away from my Powerlock.  Leatherman is at the top of their game these days IMO with lots of sane concepts and models.

Wish they'd stick an old wave size pair of scissors in there. THEN I'd be happy.

TRAITOR!  :ahhh

Na, :D glad you're liking it, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing one in the flesh at some point.  While my first LM was a Supertool that I loved, I was left a bit cold by the Core, so I'm not quite sure about the ST300 yet.

Actually, I wish they'd make the knife blades face the correct direction too. Why anybody builds a tool with blades facing the handles anymore ie beyond me.

The only way they could do that is to make the tools on the outside of the handle like Swiss Tool etc... :tu:

Haha!

Good has triumphed over evil and all is right in the universe......... :D

The thing is with the ST300, and I recognised it within minutes of having it in my hand for the first time, is that it hasn't be put together to woo people or impress them with gimmicks or finesse. It's designed to be a workhorse, function over form.

It's actually quite an ugly thing IMO, but it's going to get the job done.

I'm glad you're liking it Swiss Man - good for you

That is precisely what I would like them to do. That and the old wave size scissors.
