« on: January 28, 2010, 09:40:46 AM »
Thought this might be interesting . So what was the last tool you broke and how did you do it ?

Mine was a LM SideClip and I broke the blade carving a Pumpkin back in November .

I haven't broken anything yet. Mind you I tried (really hard) to break the jaws on one of my Swisstools last summer. Guess what? I couldn't do it  :)

I broke the lock of my Core twice :o The ST300 hasn't got the same weakness apparently or I would have already broken it as well ;)

I think it was an American Camper someone gave me. I bent the hell out of the Phillips driver. I immediately chucked it and got a Wave. I HATE poorly constructed things.

A certain father of mine broke the jaw off his Sqiurt P4 while trying to use it as a hex wrench.      :twak:

Myself?  I've not broken any of my tools yet, and don't plan to; I do however need to send my Spirit X off sometime because the handles don't align perfectly. :/

The very last thing sent in for repairs was a Wenger S557 for gorked up cork screw.

The last PLIERS based multitool I've broken was my Charge.  The pliers pivot was messed up.  Probably a combo of twisting and clamping down on it.  They wobbled, and had a sticky spot, as if the pivot point was out of round.

Before that, a messed up the pliers on a skeletool.  Similar type of issue.  That's why I started using the Charge as my farm EDC

Before that I've snapped off drivers and the blade on various iterations of my PST (sent back 3 different times for broken-ness issues).

SOG Powerlock a couple of years ago. Snapped the plier head trying to get a rusted wingnut of all things loose. Took some force but I still think it broke easier than it should have. Impressively, despite all the abuse, I have yet to break anything since unless you count the eyeglass driver bit on my Surge when I was being retarded and tried prying up a plastic clip with it. Seeing as I had a replacement bit in my sheath I don't really count that.

I don't think I've actually broken a multi yet. I've snapped done of those eyeglass bits like bullfrog did, twisted a couple of drivers and so on, but never actually made anything important snap. Yet!

I think the reason I haven't broken pliers jaws off yet is because in those cases where something is really stuck, I tend to switch over to a vise grip and then add a pipe on the visegrip.

In that situation, usually the bolt gives up the ghost before the tool.   ;)
