Nice Kawi! Love me some Japanese vehicles. And that delica! I want a D4 quite badly, but know I won't use it. Don't know why. Got an original delica, and I love it to pieces, but I won't carry it for whatever reason. Maybe I should get a new one and then I won't have to worry about using my old one  :D

Edit: Wait. Is that an endura?

I put matching lanyards and glowing skullbeads on my babies...

By the way... I like them more and more... replaced a Spydie with a Skelly last Friday and the whole day felt soo boring ...

I would buy a spydie in that green but the zdp-189 scares the hell out of me. I'll probably never have to sharpen it but as soon as I do all bets are off.

Yea, ZDP-189 is very hard to sharpen unless you have the right setup. Even if you have the right setup it is still a pain though.

I sold my PM2 because I lost it for three days and it scared the crap out of me to lose a $100 knife. Can you guys recommend me an inexpensive Spyderco that won't break the bank or my heart if it disappears.

Tenacious is a pretty nice Spyderco IMO.  I've used mine hard and never once was concerned about it not being up to whatever I threw at it.  8CR13MOV steel. G10 scales, liner lock.  Pretty hard to beat this knife again IMO for the money.

Completely agree and I would suggest the Tenacious as well. I would highly suggest getting the blacked out version for a few bucks more.

Tenacious it is then. $38 is not bad. I just bought a Kershaw Blur and Emerson CQC-7K so I'll get a Tenacious and throw it in carry rotation.

The black out version is a beauty.  The Tenacious pocket clip can be positioned 4 ways.

That is a strong inexpensive rotation right there. All for less then the scales in some of my Spydercos.

Well done.

Sold one expensive Spyderco replacing it with three solid blades. Now I won't cry if I lose any of them or if someone "borrows" then off my desk at work.
Someone borrowed my Cadet last week and I would like it back.

I pick knives on a case by case basis. If a knife is deemed quality (and I have fairly high, though realistic, standards), I'll carry it. Regardless of it's budget or my para2. If something isn't tickling me, I'll move it on- regardless of "quality", and sometimes I go big budget, sometimes I go for numerous knives, more bang for your buck as long as they all meet your needs, eh?

At what point do you oil your knives, guys? Or, how often?

I've had my Spyderco Ambitious for a few months now, hadn't used it for about a week or two and yesterday, when I took it out, it was almost impossible to open it with one hand/flip and the blade movement was kinda.. difficult due to friction. I oiled it and it's working perfectly, but I was just wondering how often you do this to yours?

Eh? Never had to oil my Tenacious or my Para2... they open smoother than when I got them.
The DF is a bit tighter so I should oil it again now, a month later...

Yeah, it had never happened to me before. And as I don't tighten or loosen the screws usually, this can't have been the problem (overtightening or sth.). It's like the washers (I'm not familiar with the terms) were screaming while opening/closing the blade.

Or maybe it was some dirt, but I do keep them clean

Only oil them if there is an issue like yours or I happen to have the oil in hand and a knife close by.

Maybe if they we're exposed to.salt water I would but not often in the ocean.

Sounds like some corrosion might of started in or around the washers. Kind of strange for that to happen and in such short time unless you live in a corrosive environment.

As far as oil/grease in my own knives it is literally a knife by knife thing. Some knives like my Sebenza get grease every time I disassemble and clean it. SAK's and Spyderco's (or any folder really) normally only get oil if I notice it really needs it. I like to run certain knives "dry" as while the oil or grease helps initially it also attracts dirt and lint that will in turn make the blade deployment become stiff. I usually only do this on SAK's though. With the high polish you don't even need oil in most cases. On the same note other knives I would not normally run dry. Sorry for the rambling. Basically its just like I said in the beginning. Its different with every knife.
