Picked up a Commander
« on: February 28, 2010, 07:08:34 AM »
Blowing out the old stock so they can bring in the new it was just too good to resist
and I picked up this one in Satin finish.  The new ones look nice as well with the
Stonewash but of course you'll pay the full pull on one of those.
This is new but really old stock as the date on the blade is 2006.  Nice souvenir to remember
the 2010 Winter Olympics here in Vancouver by.

Thanks guys.  :)

I have a couple other Emerson's and have been carrying them around of late.

Ben,  I was searching for those pic's of your commander but came up short.  I know you posted
them in one of the threads.

I thought it was going to be a bit heavy but I am surprised at how lite it really is given the size.

Ah, thanks for posting them again.  Looks great.  Interestingly enough mine is numbered 2713 with
the Satin finish and has the year 2006 on the blade.

The Commander is a great knife! I think you`ll like it. I`ve got several. Got my first one in march 99. I havent carried a EKI lately as I`ve been on a Spyderco kick since the summer of 08. My favorite EKI is the CQC 8 aka the banana.

Ah very nice!  Would love to see a pic of your '99.  I have the Horseman which is a mini 8.

Those are nice David thank you for the pic.  I see they brought back the blade swedge for '10.
Mine doesn't have it but I see your old one does.  I think it finishes the profile of the blade
nicely.

David, thanks. :)  Yeah I know I'm probably in the minority here but I love combo edges.  I don't
have a problem with sharpening them and so often for me I need serrations but not fully so.
I figured with the Commander it had a big enough blade for both and I wouldn't feel
under-edged either way.  :tu:

Didn't emerson change the non-locking liner to SS instead of Ti? Wonder if you got one before that since it's new olds stock.
