I only know from reading stuff on this inter-web thingy,
Seems like a good idea if the lights run on AA or AAA's as you might
have trouble finding anything else 
As Andre mentioned take a few first aid bits an pieces there's also tons of advice
out there about what to take, I would also tweezers for splinters

Good setup, but no light?

As already mentioned, a couple lights are needed. May I suggest a headlight and a hand-held both LED and using rechargeable cells.

Oh, and a FAK is a good idea.

I don't know much about the situation there, but hasn't it been 5 years since Katrina, and they are still rebuilding?

I don't know for certin but, the cynic in me says that Louisiana likes the free labor and tourism money they get from "VolunTourism," but that is not a back upable statement.  

For me it is just a cool bonus that I get to go somewhere I have not been

You may just be better off carrying a candle then. 

Seriously, pretty much any LED light will emit more light and be more efficient.
