Better than SAK steel in my opinion cant say about Buck 420HC I`ve only started using it again after a very long gap.
Hold fast & Have a good one.

I have a dozen or so Buck 110's and would say the steel on them will hold an edge longer.
But then again most of my 110's are 440c and an S30V.
My other hobby is making slingshots.  For the enthusiast check out...

That's good to know about the "work hardening" bit being a myth. In your guys opinions, how does it compare to SAK steel or Buck 420HC?

Not entirely, it does work harden but not by user's sharpening. The factory grinding hardens the edge, serrated more so than plain edge, over 60HRC if I recall.

I like my Spyderhawk. It's a PITA to sharpen but I still like it. I prefer my CS American Lawman's Tri-Ad lock over the Spyderhawk lock though it hasn't failed yet. I have no beef with H1 steel. Edge-holding seems about the same as my AUS8 blades. I'm not blown away by the knife, overall, but I do like it.

I've been using Atlantic Salts for over Five years .They feel very good in the hand and are light in weight but very strong in construction . I do find the serrations to be a little too agressive and can snag on some meterials. On the other hands it will hack through lots of stuff and is almost like a saw . Very good in an emergancy and also a good rope knife , have also used it in the kitchen with good results. Gets the long term user thumbs up from me  :tu:

I like Salts , I would say the H1 is a pretty good steel , slightly superior to that found in SAK's and the Buck you allude to .

I've never owned or used one, but I've been tempted and played with them in shops.

I want to like spydercos, like all the cool kids, but I can't bring myself to buy one (yet).

I don't know what it is.

In any case, if the price was right, I'd definitely consider their sheepsfoot or fixed blade Salts as pocket and deck knives. I've heard nothing but good things (mostly from Dunc :P )

For little stuff - yeah :) It's not bad at all.

It has the H1 steel like a proper Salt - it's just tiny :D
