Falcon 2?
« on: August 22, 2010, 07:06:24 pm »
Has anyone got a picture of a Maxpat Falcon 2 next to either a Jumbo or a Pygmy2 so I can get a true idea of it's size?

Thanks in advance guys :)

Dave has all those, I'm sure he'll happily oblige  :tu:

Are thinking of picking one up Mike? I'm really happy with my Pygmy Falcon II  :tu:

Well I've got a Jumbo and Pygmy II, but I'd like something quite a bit bigger for long weekend trip's for me and the boy :)

Here you go.

The height and width of the Falcon II are the same as the pygmy, but you get an extra layer in the depth which make it much bigger. You also get strapping and more molle webbing on the Falcon II, meaning that you can easily strap a bed-roll, tent or Trangia for example on the bottom.

The Falcon II also has the waist strap, which makes a hell of a difference if you're carrying more weight over longer distances.

According to the Maxpedition website, the Pygmy Falcon has 23l capacity, and the Falcon II has 25l. This doesn't seem right to me at all - the Falcon II seems much bigger, so I'm assuming they are referring to just the main compartment, which looks to tally with other 25l packs I have here.

For two people for two nights, you might be better with the Vulture II maybe :) That's bleeding huge at 46l capacity  :o

I never realised the Pygmy was so similiar in height to its bigger brother.

Your Pygmy looks different to mine Dave  Mine has a couple of rows of PALS above the side pocket just like this stock pic. Wonder if there are other differences. Is yours a Pygmy Falcon I? I always wondered what the difference was or even if a Pygmy Falcon I even existed

Is yours a Pygmy Falcon I?

Sure is! The only difference apparently is the extra row of webbing (which I could use tbh). Same size and all though :)

Yeah I think on balance a Vulture II might be the better option for me :)

Thanks for your help Dave mate :tu:
