If they did, I didn't have any.  I seem to recall shrimp, but I don't think I ate anything there.

They should have ditched the food and the open bar make the launch as simple as possible, from the money they would have saved gave you guys instead free MUTs so you can have an early review  :)

If were still a grunt, I would seriously want one.  :multi:

But I stopped wearing the funny green clothing 28 years ago. :)

We were hoping for that, but at an MSRP of $150, I doubt Leatherman will be giving many of these away.

And, even so, I buy most of the tools that are reviewed here.  It makes me feel better about pointing out a tool's faults if the manufacturer doesn't have a vested interest in it.  Not that I turn down free tools mind you, but our independence and lack of bias I think is a lot more important than yet another article about how super awesome and wonderful things are.  Of course, that's probably also why we don't have nearly as much advertising revenue as paper media does!

Gotta hand it to Leatherman, they’re always trying to innovate.  :salute:

That's my take on it too Duckman, but pick up any magazine out there and you'll see that they regard every new gadget as the be all, end all of it's niche.  They say honesty is the best policy, but it's easier to make a buck blowing sunshine up people's @$$es!

It's not a passing thing, it's the "best" way to do business.  If you point out faults in a product, you upset the manufacturer, and they won't pay for advertising, which means you go out of business.  If you give a glowing review about how the product is the best idea since the development of fire, then they sell more of them and are encouraged to give you ad money.  Print media is expensive, between paper & ink and distribution charges, plus the fees they pay to a publisher and staff (sales people, writers, editors etc) so they need that ad money.

While a forum like this has a cost attached to it, it's a fraction of what print costs, so we can survive with smaller ad revenues, and as a result, we can say what we want!

There's nothing wrong with the other way of doing things.  I'll bet Steven Dick and J. Bruce Voyles both drive nicer cars than I do, and that's evidence right there that their way works.  I know both those guys, and I have absolutely nothing against them, and I have a stack of magazines from both of them (and then some!) to prove it.  In fact, I even have my name printed in an issue of Tactical Knives, and may get around to doing it again sometime.

I just have a different way of doing things to them, and some folks prefer this way, others prefer theirs, and yet others prefer something different entirely.  It's good to have the choices, isn't it?  :D
