"New" Supertool arrived today...

I bought this Supertool on a danish online marketplace and by the looks it seemed to be in great condition. But since there
was no fanned pics I called the seller, who assured me that there was no rust what so ever and the tool was in mint condition.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the package this morning..  




I didn't pay a fortune, but I did ask him directly, so I kinda expected a little honesty..
Well off to work..

1. Wiping it down with paper and soaking it in warm soapwater for a hour.
(I couldn't get myself to take a pic of the water afterwards with all that gooey stuff floating round.   )



2. Drying with a towel and my wife's hairdryer..  



3. And then the real funny part with cottoncleaners, toothpicks, WD40 and a bit of steelwool...  



4. And the final result..



It will never be a shelf queen, but I'm sure it'll be a damn fine user wherever it ends up..  
The tools in one handle are a bit loose, but I'm glad I took the time to give it a makeover..

I've had a couple of Supertools that have looked much worse than that one, seized up and everything, and they always can be made to look new again. Except the files - they can be tricky to restore properly

I have a weird hunch that it'll end up in UK at some point, so I might take you up on that offer then..

It's a much easier task wit the correct tools Allan - you can strip them down without worrying about damaging the screws etc, which can be an issue of you're planning to trade or sell it

The seller have tried to tighten them but luckily without any real damage to the screws.
The right set of tools would certainly have made the whole process much easier.

You know more then likely the Leatherman looked just as good as it does now when he put in it the mail.

After all Leatherman's due have a tendency to rust.

Nice clean up job, just a shame you had to do it.  Do you need to borrow any of Mike's especially large tools to go round and sort the seller out

I'm trying to loose the "Brandon Walsh" look, So mine's gone many years ago.. 
I'll rather keep any "large tools" of Mike's out of this..
