Sweet G, Detron. But while they share similar shape and appearance, your's is MT-G, a very different animal compared to more pedestrian model Monroque posted.  :tu:

but I believe it is the same module, (I like functions!!!)   hence this beast.

G-shock's are awesome!  Master of G kicks it up a notch!!  and the Triple Sensor, Master of G Rangeman, is amazing!

where to begin!

first,  I think it is beautiful!!!

I know it is not seen by others while you wear it, but I love the jungle cat with a compass that is on the back plate.

the buttons were designed to be used even if you have gloves on and the texture does provide extra purchase.
I like the feel and would say that the "grip" of these buttons is lower than the new victorinox file, but more than the old file.
I wish I had a better method of measuring this, but this is the best I can do.  here is a picture taken through a Vic Mag glass

the small circular indicator is very nice looking and the red-ish purple is very stylish.

the band-keeper is metal,  it is very nice looking, but I think I would have preferred a resin one.  this is just a personal preferrence, and it is not that big of a deal, I just prefer the muted resin "thud" to a metal "tap" on the desk.

this is a little bigger than the GD350 I reviewed the other day, and a little heavier, but I think I will adapt to it quickly.
I have an 8.5" wrist, just to give perspective to the picture

OK,  here is one of my favorite features.  not that I need this info on a regular basis, but I think it is rather cool.
Sunrise and sunset data that not only shows for the current day, but you can cycle through and look up sun data for any day past or future.
the shadow covers the "sun rise" label  :-\

the main timekeeping screen can provide the day of the week or the 42 hour barometer graph.

to me this watch has the ABC sensor trio that make a possible life saving tool.  the fact that it is mud and sand resistant on top of water resistant just adds to the trust I will place on this watches ability to take a beating.
With a MSRP of $300, I feel this watch is worth the price,  I do not like paying that much for a watch personally, but this thing is super cool, and tough!

as to ALL the features available on this watch, I recommend the "video manual" videos below by fwupow.

HELPFUL VIDEOS  I watched all three of these videos more than once!

At A Glance
Introducing RANGEMAN, the latest addition to the Master of G series of tough and rugged timepieces that are designed and engineered to stand up to the most grueling conditions imaginable. RANGEMAN employs a Shock Resistant Triple Sensor, which makes it capable of keeping altitude, barometric pressure, temperature and direction readings at your fingertips.

Cylindrical buttons provide outstanding operation and improved resistance to impact. The frequently used sensor button (center right) has a metal cover that protects it against lateral impact and keeps foreign matter out. Pressing the sensor button in any mode takes you directly to a sensor screen. Each sensor mode has its own audible tone, which means you can determine which mode you are entering without even looking at the watch.

All of this plus sunrise/sunset data, one-touch time recording, one-touch elapsed time measurement, world-renowned G-Shock toughness and durability, and much more makes RANGEMAN the perfect choice for rangers, rescue crews, and anyone else whose profession or activities demand unfailing reliability. Black resin band digital watch with black face, red accents on the dial and the side button.

Thanks for the pics Detron :salute:  That metal band does look cool on that watch.  Did it come with it, or did you add it yourself?  Also, that feature loaded Master of G is probably way too big for my wrist in terms of how silly it would look.  Mine seems to be one of the smaller models, and it is bigger than I'm used to compared to my old watches.

that is the way it came,  and it is a nice feel on the arm too.  the Rangeman is big,  but I hardly notice it any more.  I LOVE IT THOUGH!

yep,  I actually find the sunrise and sunset calendar to be one of the most useful features on the watch,  and considering what stuff IS built in,  that is saying something

It's my fave model a 6900 but the band holder keeps sliding out. I prefer the band on the black one.

I said in another thread but that Tan G is sweet, would love to wear it at work.

Good timing on the Rangeman info because I came here to ask some related questions.

Doing a lot of long range shooting and wondering if there is a watch that could be used as a backup to my Kestral.

Need accurate Temp and Barometric pressure for the most part. Read somewhere that because you wear the watch the temp would be off some but I w=can work around that by taking it off when out shooting I suppose.

So what do you guys say about the accuracy of the readings on the G Shocks with these functions?

G's are so-so for either accurate Temp or Baro pressure reading. For temp reading you will need to remove the watch from the wrist for at least 1/2 hour for it to adjust to the temp of the environment, as its meter is influenced by the temperature of your wrist/body while worn.

Baro pressure reader is OK but if you plan to use the watch for altitude measurement (it uses baro data for that) and being a shooter/sniper I guess you would, it will require constant re-calibration to the reference point. Suunto for example, are much better watches for that as they offer altimeter-lock function and do not require constant calibration.

I have been around ABC watches for over 10 years now, and for me it really comes down to look/coolness factor or functionality. If I were after a top ABC watch I could depend on, I'd choose Suunto. When I'm after cool look and bad-ass appearance, Casio Protreks get my $$. These days I wear Suunto Core, but be warned, one big advantage of Protreks over Suunto's is Solar charging feature. Suunto still requires batteries.

Hope I didn't bore you with this... 8)

Nah not boring, pretty much what I thought.

Guess my back up will be another Kestral.

Here's my baby, a DW-5000C. I got into G-Shocks pretty heavy when I learned that they were born in 1983 like me. I lucked into this one, to say the least, and I didn't even know what I had at the time. I found my birth year watch and didn't realize it. I found it at a flea market in a container of random watches, dead, dirty and looking rather sorry for itself. I paid $25 for it and took it home; I thought I'd way overspent for a dead watch at the time. It had the original bezel at the time I bought it, but it was dried out and crumbled to itty bitty bits in my pocket on the way home.

I cleaned it up, had a battery installed and bought a reproduction bezel and band; the Casio originals are extraordinarily rare these days. It's my 'weekend warrior'. I have a DW-5600E for daily wear; it was modified with a crystal from a DW-5030 (30th anniversary model), so it has the look of the DW-5000 without the cost or risk of beating up a collectible watch.

Here's my birthday present G-Shock: a modded DW-5025D. It's one of the 25th anniversary stainless case and screwback models. It was modified with a plain black bezel, black band with gold buckle and the module from a DW-5600EG (giving it that gold tinted screen and green backlight). The gold wash coating (which, according to the person who built the watch, was horribly scratched up) was removed from the screwback. Very nice watch and very comfortable to wear.

I've never thanked you for making me buy the g-shock gw-9400 I've been wearing since I bought at the beginning of December. I've tried to resist, but it was helpless.  :)

It is a great piece of watch, and my only (working) one. I feared it would be too big, but when I tried it at the shop, it looked less gigantic than I thought, and here we are...

I figured I wouldn't buy a second one, so the best bet would have been to buy the most feature rich one, right? :)

No shortage of features in that one. I only wish there was a way for the thermometer to work accurately while wearing it.
