Style, Style CS and Squirt PS4 are out!

I found all three at REI this morning. The Style was $15, the CS was $20,and the Squirt PS4 was $30.

That's cheaper than Amazon folks!

I picked up the CS. Love it.

Right now rei seems to be cheaper than online on these 3.

Ended up getting the plain Style too after messing with one at a different REI. Not a fan of the new Squirt though. The scissors replaced more useful tools.

I was actually hoping someone else would first. For me to get it, it would have to become my EDC. But it loses the tweezers, pen and good Phillips of my SAK. So I'm holding off.

I actually just took back the regular Style (the placement of the scissors made unfolding them very hard with short nails) and my Gerber Curve (it's just crap) and exchanged them for the PS4. I really like it.

Despite having the same scissors as the Style, they are placed far better and are easy to open. The quality is nice and contrary my initial fears, the scales are still aluminum, just with more sculpting. Also, it's now held together with torx screws, not rivets.

I say go for it.

Some of REI's people are hoping the CSs will arrive in another day or 2.  Next week at the latest!

Nope, no lock. It's similar to the Squirts and Micra.

Definitely tiny on the PS4, but they work really well. I've tested them cutting all sorts of things. I don't have a Vic to compare on size though.

Menards in Tipp City, OH, only has the CS   I really wanted to check out the PS4 or the regular style.  It feels lighter than the Micra, but I doubt it'll replace my Micra as a EDC.  It seems a little bit flimsy, I can squeeze the sides of the carabiner and it flexes a bit, same with the blade guard.  The only advantage I really see is the clip and the outside opening knife.  We'll see how useful they both are over the longer term; we'll also see how long it takes me to lose the tweezers.  Another interesting note: I can't find a date code.

OK, just got a Leatherman Style in a trade from a very generous member here. I must admit it is kind of neat but I am finding it sorely lacking in comparison to the plain ole Victorinox Classic.

First of all it is small, very small. It is 59mm's long in the closed position. Compares well with the 58mm Classic but it is also only 11mm's wide. For a guy with big thumbs and fingers this makes it a problem.


The main blade is nice with a beefier look and feel than the Classic but the nail nick is too small. I am finding it hard to open it up every time.


The scissors work fine but once again in comparison to the Classic I find it a little too stiff of a return spring. Maybe I am just too much a fan of SAK's. Also the nail nick is hard to get at.


The nail file is slightly longer and thinner than the classic and works just fine. However once again I am finding it hard to open because the nail nick is in a hard to reach area for my fat thumb nails. There is a nice Tweezers hidden inside the rear black shell. It is not going to fall out for sure since it is rather hard to remove. I do like the angled tip on the tweezers.




To sum it all up, in comparison to the under $10 Vic Classic which also includes a plastic Toothpick, the Leatherman Style at $15 comes up short in my book. The Style seems to have all the nail nicks either too small or poorly positioned. Since it has a metal shell and one side is black at that I figure it will scratch up pretty bad after some EDC. I would rather carry the Classic.

I put the Style on my key chain two day ago and the paint is scratching already.    I wish that they would just make the whole thing chrome.  I love the tool though.

I picked up the Style, Style CS and PS4 today at my local REI.  The clerk said they didn't have them but when I went to the area where they display their SAK's and MT's there were all three as described on this thread.  Thanks for the heads up.  I would have liked to see the Style come in an all stainless version or all aluminum but I can deal with the black version.

The problem with Menards is that you leave the store with their stupid jingle stuck in your head!    ~Save big money, you save big money, when you shop Menards~

I'd be hard pressed to choose a Classic over this.  The size of the knife blade alone is pretty swaying, and the fact that all tools open from the end opposite the keyring is a major plus to me.  Lack of a toothpick is a little inconvenient...I even stuck a Vic toothpick in my Micra.

That's the first time I've been able to put the size of it in context. As someone who can't see the point in something the size of a Classic - there's a good chance the Style isn't going to make it into my EDC.

I am not a big fan of little tools , but for the price I think I will be tempted , especially if there is a MTO one
