A handy home made gadget .
« on: May 13, 2010, 03:00:27 PM »
This is a little door wedge I made out of jig and fixture plastic . Its very handy as a door wedge for working on door hardware like panic bars and electric door strikes . I also use it as a drift , anchor tapper , and soft faced hammer substitute .

It makes a good , very legally justifiable , pocket stick type impact weapon .

I just use a bit of wood when I'm fixing doors, but I like that set up :salute:

Chris,
I have read that travellers should carry one of those and wedge their hotel door shut
at night
Also to stop the kids from coming in when the wife is feeling 'playful'
That's a little outside my skill set
But then again, that's never stopped me in the past  :D

Maybe... the kids knock the pieces everywhere   ::)

If I have to work on a door I will wedge it with a 'brick bolster'  chisel  :tu:
If the door has to come off I use these they were copied from the blokes on site
but to be honest I'm not great with doors  :-[

A friend of mine use to put his Classic in the door jamb until one day he opened the door didn't grab it in time
and lost it inside the jamb and wall. :twak:

Since then I replaced it with another Classic and I included a LARGE washer (about the size of a half dollar) with the words
ANTI DOOR JAMB DEVICE on it with a lanyard to attach it. ;)
