What was your 1st multitool?

Mine was a Leatherman Tool, PST, from a Marlboro catalog back in the 90's.

I bought a MP400 from the base exchange shortly before deploying to Al Udeid AB in 2004.

Although, I did have a SAK of some sort as a child. It had camo scales. It was sweet, but is unfortunately long gone.

Mine was a gerber legend. I had it about 10 year's till I broke it and replaced it with a Surge.

I gave the gerber to a guy at work who had it repaired and still has it now.

Same tool here, bought at the aprox, same time stumbled across it in a sporting gear shop here in Sweden.
Had never seen or heared anything about plier based multitools and it almost blew my mind with the clever compact design. So simple and rugged. It kind of had an air of the essence of america for me. Bought it without hesitation on sight.
I had used (and still do) SAKs and carried a climber everyday before that.

Mine was my wave (which I still have) I'm pretty sure I bought it 2000. The price was an amazing £44.95 including VAT.

My first was a Bass Pro Leatherman SideClip, really  liked that tool.
It was free so that made it even better. I walked into bass pro one day, applied for credit card, waited for tool and card. Then ran the card thru the shredder.
I carried it clipped to my belt at work, carried it fishing. Then I stopped for supplies on my way to the lake one day and never saw it again.
That's why I don't trust clips.

I tried a Swiss Champ before that but only carried it a couple times then gave it to a nephew.

A Leatherman PST bought around '94 after seeing a coworker with one. Carried it almost everyday for work for twenty years then I found this place. Still have it but it's now retired.

My first SAK would gave been purchased some time in the mid 1970's ( I still have it), I didn't get a full MT (Gerber Mr Pinchy v5 blunt nose and I still have it as well) until the early 1990's.  That was how things stayed until I joined MTo, then I somehow turned into a collector of plier-based MTs ???

I started with an Imperial Camper and an explorer "tool" given to me on my birthday  in 1988.
Those were stolen in '92
Replaced it with a Vic Super Tinker from RadioShack during fathers day sale...that was stolen in '97
I've never let anyone else use my knife or my tools since.

Picked up my first blunt nose Gerber MP in '95
That and the Vic were the only tools I had on my first matinence job, site was suposed to suply tools but didn't.
I've carried a SAK and either MP or LM together evrey day for 21 years now.

Dammm recollection makes one feel old.

I "had" a SAK or two as a kid, but since my dad had me leave them locked up with the camping gear, I don't really count those.

Next, in high school, I was given a Micra by a friend's dad which I thought was awesome.  The number of little tools all folded up inside was just fun to fondle.  Kept that one until moving one time during college...after that I was gifted a Gerber Clutch (keychain plier tool).  Sadly, the pins and backsprings started to come apart, and that one didn't last long.

Finally, what I consider to be my true 1st MT was a Wave I bought about 5 years ago.  Fixed all sorts of stuff in our apartment until we bought a house and I started hoarding bigger tools, though I still use MTs more than the bigger tools here around the house.

The Wave is still (probably ;) ) my favorite all-around MT; it lives in my EDC bag these days.

Does one of those old Trim tools count?
If not, I guess it was my old Vic Classic.

The original.  Leatherman PST.  For some reason, I don't recall ever having a SAK growing up.

I forgot that I did have a fake SAK as a kid :o It was similar to a Champion from what I recall  I took it apart (as I did many things back then) and never put it back together again :ahhh

Junky German sakalike followed by another one followed by a junky Chinese sakalike.

First sak was a Tinker (really got an Ecoline Spartan, hated it and returmed it).

First Plierbased was a Ganzo G2020 which I sold off in a sec, followed by a Leatherman OG SuperTool I paid 3 USD for  :D

Cub Scout knife in the mid-1950s.
Boy Scout knife in the early 1960s.
Assorted Stockmen and other traditional pocket knives while growing up (most lost or broken).
First SAK, an econo Spartan, in the mid-1980s (it didn't rust!).
Gerber Multi-Plier from my Dad in the 1990s (had earlier sent him a Leatherman PST which I now have)

Imperial Apex Hunting Tool, if I remember correctly; which my grandfather used to keep in the tractor's toolbox.  The whole tool was well made for a cheapie (Imperial, Ireland), but the design was pretty bad.

In truth, it was a Playdoh SAK-style multitool I got about age 3 in 1999 or so.
