I wasn't sure the best forum to put this thread in. I finally decided this would be the most appropriate. Hope I'm right!
So here's the deal: I have one of those SOG sheaths that has the extra utility pouch on it, but I'm not sure what to do with it. It's too small for a Powerlock (though as it wears a little more I image it will loosen up enough). Right now I have my Deluxe Tinker in there just because it was the first thing I could find that fit. But then I was also thinking I could fit almost like a miniature survival kit in there. I could get matches or some type of sparking tool in there plus paracord and small torch and fishing or first-aid equipment. You know, some combination of that stuff. There are so many ideas I'm getting and I know there are millions of possibilities, so what are your opinions, guys? You always seem to have ideas just a few steps ahead of mine. Whaddya think?

http://sogknives.com/store/PFP3.htmlIt's that one. Those are better pictures than I could take anyway. Like the pictures show, the largest thing it can hold is like a Powerlock. So that's about the size constraint of it.

It doesn't look to secure for small items, so maybe you ought to just stick to a lanyarded sak and a small AA/AAA torch

Well I was thinking I may be able to find a small container of some type to create a micro first-aid kit or fill it with like fishing hooks/line and matches or what-have-you. But that's what I mean! I hadn't even thought of a torch! Haha like I said, you guys are always a step ahead of me!

Is the pouch attached to a knife sheath or stand alone? If it is part of the Field Pup sheath I'd probably drop in a BIC lighter and a flashlight...maybe some tinder.

It's attached to the sheath. It's like one of those old combat knife sheaths with the small pouch for a sharpening stone, only it's significantly larger in order to accommodate- according to SOG- a tool or folding knife. But I was thinking we could come up with a more creative solution.

Magnesium firestarter, small sharpener, or a small light.

Is it large enough to hold an Altoids Gum tin?

If it won't hold a tin, you can stuff some fish hooks, pins, fishing line, thread, bandaids and cloth (tinder) into a small piece of PVC and put a cap or corks on the ends. I even put in a piece of an aluminum can along the wall of the pipe to use for lures or reflector material or to make into an emergency whistle as seen on YouTube. Wrap duct tape on the outside.
