Got a new knife....

Well I was needing a nice camping knife to take out in the woods with me and I think I found something that will do the trick, at least until I have some more spare cash  Anyway it's a Gerber Freeman Hunter (without the guthook). Decent steel, looks nice, feels pretty damn sturdy, scary sharp and came in a FANTASTICALLY crappy sheath but the price was right at just under $30 shipped.

The sheath when I got it looked liked this one:

I chopped off the excess nylon and plastic stitched it down the back with some boot laces, glued the plastic insert in, and put a large split ring on the top. I rather like it now

That looks like it will make a dandy camping knife!  Almost looks similar to the Cold Steel SRK but
with wooden scales.  Nice knife, hope you like it.

It looks like a lot of knife for the money.  How is the feel of the handle?  I would think the tang part of the handle would get uncomfortable at times...

It's actually alot more comfy than it looks. I don't know if I would wanna cut all day non-stop with it but for reasonable day to day chores its great! I kind of like the jimping of the tang...it adds alot of grip to the knife and theres a nice long jimped section for your thumb that gives the knife excellent control.
