ATTN: Sharpmaker Users
on: July 11, 2010, 06:39:10 AM
If you use a sharpmaker this is some info you will want to read. I've been looking for an easy way to clean the rods/stones without getting them wet and having to wait for them to dry. Well I have a friend in Canada who swears by it that suggested I try this and it works tons better then other methods I've tried.

It cost 4 US dollars and works magic.

If you want and easy and cheap way to cleans your rods you have got to get this. For web link email me. I don't know if I can post it here.

Its called the Lansky Eraser Block.
You use it just like a pencil eraser and it works magic!

Sorry if this sounds like an ad its just a great item.

Alcohol prep pads work well, so do various cleaning wipes. I'll check the lansky eraser block out, thx for the tip Ashley

There are a couple of brands like the Lansky 1 out there like the Stanley rust eraser :) Same stuff as the Lansky and she's right it does work pretty good with the Sharpmaker

If there's an audio supply store anywhere near you, Magic Erasers are actually melanine acoustic foam.

I usually clean my Sharpmaker Rods the way Spyderco recommends, water, bleach type powder that can be found in almost every kitchen, and an abrasive pad. Haven't had one slip yet.
