I don't actually have any good pictures of just the Wave; but I'll get some  :tu:

old new wave?

The post-2004 Wave had a minor redesign a few years ago to fix the plier retention tabs in the handle because of issues with them bending.

If there was one feature I;d change on my Wave 2.0 would be to remove the never used flat screwdriver blade and replace it with an awl /w thread loop.

Don't have the tools to modify the flat screwdriver blade into a make-shift awl w/ thread loop or I would of long ago.
Anyone know where to get such and awl blade to fit into a Wave?

Me too!

Here's my Wave, along with little Wavey Junior.

Me too!

I can do that too, but with an older version
He's a pretty good egg in the long run.

Another Wave fan here!

No pics, but I have

Old Wave
Old New Wave
New New Wave
BO Wave
Damascus Wave

(and a coupla Charges, which, in my mind, are just Wave variants)

Best pliers based MT format IMO

Not only Charges, Mr. Whippy but  Surges also. :D

I am in  :D

From left - right :
- (Old) Wave USA stamped
- (Old) Wave Tool stamped
- Wave 20th Anniversary
- Wave 25th Anniversary
- (New) Wave
- (New) Wave w/ cap crimper
- (New) Wave BO
- (New) Wave BO w/ cap crimper

I love the Wave and Charge Series,  as they have the same based tool inside..
and IMHO, it's the best multitool with their nice size, weight, and design.

I'm in!  I have an original Wave that was my only multi and edc for about 5 years.  Then I found this place and it's been down hill from there.  It's now retired in favor of newer models, but I still get it out to reminisce from time to time.  Mine is an early 2004 model, so it must have been one of the last produced before the change over to the newer model.

My wife has a New Wave which she uses and carries quite often.  I don't get along too well with the newer model, but I'm thinking of moding one to include dedicated drivers which would make it more appealing to me.

Anyway...  LONG LIVE THE WAVE!   :multi:

How to tell the date on a wave?
I know I have the old version, but how old I wonder?

Look on the inside of the handles; deploy the inner tools and you should see four numbers; the first two numbers indicate the month, while the last two indicate the year the handles were stamped out. :)  The handles might've been stamped in different months/years, too, so it just depends. :)
