After purchasing the original 1985/86 Swiss Champ model that replaced the Champion, I wanted a modern sample.  Last night, I purchased a black scale Swiss Champ model 53503 and moments ago completed the purchase of a red scale Swiss Champ model 1.6795.

Love the boxes, and that nice sheath!

Thank you!  I suppose most are inclined to toss the boxes, especially when the label/seal is the most distinguishing component. I am very pleased when I run across some NOS stock with out of production box designs.  For example, the Explorer is my favorite SAK from a practical standpoint in that I carry it with me every day.  I have no idea how many I have collected, but this older model is my favorite Explorer even though it spends all its time in the box:

It's a good distinction. Both will buy many knives, but the enthusiast buys them to use, rather than to display or store.

:ahhh Yikes, that puts me in the collector camp.
I only use one: (and coincidentally, the one I don't have a box for since it's a mod made from two knives)

I've only bought 2 SAKs in packages, a Wenger in a box during the 80's (box long gone) and a SwissChamp last year in a blister pack. I'd keep'em if I had'em in the first place tho.

Probably the reason I don't have any boxes is because the TSA doesn't confiscate boxes.  :P

$26.75 shipped, early morning Woodsman snag.

Cheaper than a Mexico reissue anyway. Saw some Huntsman Lites for around the same price but I dig the earlier 80s vibe of this one with the smooth backside, screw sciss', fluted, crossbow, gray mag etc. I guess between '85 and '91?

TY :tu:

I think this is a safe environment to admit that it's 4:08am and I can't sleep because there's no buy-it-now SAKs on ebay I'm interested in within my price range and because I realize that if I stay up 8 more hours the Woodsman will be here.

I have a sort of addiction, to the point that I'm spending more than I should, though I rarely buy any SAKs over $30...I'm having a problem staying off ebay incase a great deal on a rare one pops up.

I wouldn't want to call myself a collector, I buy mainly used SAKs that need a little reconditioning, not collector's grade...but I'm a compulsive buyer.
