Stupid Skeletool price
« on: August 28, 2010, 02:01:48 am »
So my GF and I were at a local supply store (farming, auto, sporting goods, trades, etc). They have an okay selection of LM and Vic stuff. I've always been impressed that their prices on Vic stuff (until the MAP thing anyway) were always the same if not lower than FELINEVET's, though I've always bought from Tim anyway  ;). Well today I actually looked at the LM stuff since I'm really interested in getting a Skeletool CX all of a sudden. I was shocked to see that they wanted $80 for a standard Skeletool  :o . I can't imagine what they would want for a CX. I haven't honestly looked at B&M prices for Skellys before, is that normal or is that store just way out of line for the things? One things for sure, when I do finally grab one, I'll be getting it from Amazon or one of you guys lol.

Thats crazy.  I believe REI (who generally sticks to full MSRP) has the Skeletool for 49.95 and the CX for 69.95.

Duck: Yeah I know outside of the U.S. LM prices have a tendancy to be rediculously inflated. But to see that kind of inflation here, especiall at a store that in general has great prices on everything they sell was a bit of a shock.

Zack: Those are the prices I would more expect to see, the same or a bit higher than from Amazon, etc., not double the price.

The sad thing is the uninformed are buying these  :-\

They don't realise a quick google will most certainly save them a bit of money.

I was in my local hardware store last week. He has a small Leatherman range all at full UK RRP  :ahhh  Anyhoo I was buying stuff just as the guy behind the counter had sold a woman a Fuse for £60 / $90  :o :ahhh  I got the impression it was for a husband or a son. If I'd been there earlier I would have 'educated' her  :tu: The sales guy even got it wrong, I heard him saying they have a lifetime warranty  ::)

Confirmed.  Marlton REI, same prices.

Sports Authority scared me away yesterday   34 bucks for a micra!

Academy Wal-mart and Target usually have decent prices but Felinevet, eleatherman edcsource, and our other guys here can beat them usually.

Duckman, wow I didn't realize how expensive multitools cost where you live. The last time I was there I wasn't really into multitools and didn't even look. I was hoping to score some deals on multitools as I am visiting there later this year. I always leave there with a new Nokia phone. Not too much cheaper than the US but they get released there way before they do here. By the time they are new here, they are already old news there.....

I've never placed an order with him but have discussed it. He never said no international shipping. Think it was approx $13 for the Priority Box :)

He is a member here but hasn't been about since April, send him a PM for a quote  :tu:
