So is there a ratio for deciding how long to make a handle
Some kind of Weight to length rule of thumb?

The bottom one weighs 4lb's
I am trying to get my Hammer Axe (top in the picture) to fit on the end of a pick axe handle at the moment
I'm not sure if it will feel too long

I don't think there's any hard and fast rules

If it's a big lump then stick a long shaft on it
