Amici,
As a former 13B and also an avid shooter and owner of an AR-15, here's my two..

As I reflect back to the days of PMCS it comes to me that I never really used anything besides the old PST doing at that time to do any serious maintenance to my weapon since the ease of disassembly is just that, easy..

I haven't handled the MUT yet nor have I heard from any of my trooper pals that are still in and using one, although the bolt clearer function does look like a keeper on the MUT.

Personally I'd stick with the SURGE or possibly look at the 300 also... The issue with the rattle with the new Surge models seems to be with the blade exchanger..

Mine is new (born this year) and arrived nice and tight but soon after started to rattle  after I engaged in some serious use. It seemed that the exchanger loosened up resulting in the saw or file blade to literally pop out of the exchanger as I attempted to open or close that specific tool.

Jim Guy here at the forum advised me on what action to take to fix it, and after I crimped the exchanger a bit no more rattle..

Now I have a super-sized Wave, minus the calories after each use!

Cheers,
Serge

I hear so much different information about this "MUT"... I thought it had a 154cm or greater blade?   ???

I think for the price they should give you a better blade steel.  Just my opinion but that ticks me off a bit.

same here...
even 440C would've been better. but 420C is rather disappointing i think. maybe it changes in future versions... if LT sells enough of them.

Surge was released at the same price the MUT is, same blade steel too.

On the other hand, with technological advances one would expect the newer tools to follow the newer technology & materials too. New tools shouldn't have yesterday's materials & technology. And quite frankly considering the abuse an in-field tool would have the better steel it should of been given.

It's for easier sharpening in the field.  Could you imagine sharpening 154CM on a rock?
I'm back!!
