Cheesy <groan> :P

I have actually given serious consideration to making a dedicated SAK cheese knife but using the 108mm frame.  Never got around to it as I wanted yellow handles :D
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Great! I don't like cheese that much, but my better half just loves cheese. Maybe that's a SAK for him, although he always says he doesn't need another one (he has two...)

A rough google translation.

"Even before its official launch is replaced by the new Swiss-cheese knife a place in the exhibition of the National Museum Zurich "The Army knife - a tool that is" cult.

Who does not know, the red folder with the Swiss cross? Once, as a tool for
Soldiers conceived, it bears today, almost everyone in this country with him. There are pocket knives
for the Savior, the hunter or the fisherman, but to date, the pocket knife was missing for
Gourmet. Finally, this gap is filled. Jointly presented the Switzerland Cheese
Marketing Victorinox AG and the results of their cooperation, the Swiss no pants bag
: The Swiss must for cheese knife. It has all the important tools that for
the consumption of Swiss cheese needs: A cheese blade, a bread knife and a corkscrew
- And for all cases even a toothpick.
Since today is the Swiss-cheese knife, and was already available from the National
Zurich appointed cult object by it in the exhibition "The Army knife - a tool
is a cult "has been integrated. "The National Museum in Zurich on the pulse of time," says Mariella Frei,
Head of Marketing National Museum in Zurich. We show not only history of that time, but
and current topics, such as in the pocket knife Exhibition: From Silex up
the Swiss-cheese-knife. "The popular exhibition dedicated to the diverse and interesting
cultural origin of the folding knife - from the Stone Age to the knife
world-famous Victorinox multi-functional pocket knives. Knives with different
Uses and sensations as the largest and the smallest folding knife can
until 24 October 2010 be admired in the National Museum in Zurich. And since today
even the newest folding knife: The Swiss-cheese knife, cheese with the exclusive blade.
"I am pleased that the Switzerland Cheese Marketing AG, with the idea of a Swiss-cheese
to realize knives, Victorinox has knocked on and this after a short development time
could be realized by Victorinox. Courage to innovate prove the charge
of the National Museum, because they regard it as an enrichment to an existing exhibition
. Change, "said Hans Schorno of Victorinox and Pierre Gwinner of the SCM adds:
"Combine Swiss values and quality, as happened with the Swiss-cheese knife, one
innovative project between SCM, Victorinox and the Swiss National Museum Zurich. "
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I love cheese, and I want a cheese SAK.

I can't speak for all Americans, but cheese (good cheese.. both American made and imported) is very popular here. I even have a regular cheese shop I enjoy, and odd friends who complain about local cheese shops and their lack of some insanely obscure cheese.

It is as popular here as craft brewed beers, fine liquor, and good wine.

Too bad for Vic. Sounds like they might be holding on to European stereotypes about Americans. From an American who follows professional cycling and watches/listens to a lot of BBC.. as far as I can tell, the number of Americans who are obnoxious, uncultured, tasteless, and loud is equal to what one will find in most European countries. The media here has too many Europeans believing in the myth of the Budweiser swilling 'mercan. Sure, those folks exist, but they are not the norm in a cultured urban area.

I'll hop off my soap box now.

Now, who wants cheese? I have a nice viejo queso Manchego if you want some. I may have some Stilchester left as well...

Having spend a lot of time in different parts of the US, I have to agree that the stereotypes are just that.

Cheese and knives are two of my favourite things - this is all good in my book  :D

And if you want some soft mild cheddar, try Mack & Manco's pizza in Ocean City NJ.  That makes their pizzas so addictive!! :tu:

But seriously, if Andy Tiedye was here, he'd back up what i'm going to say.  This model SAK would/will be popular among us lockblade lovers!! :salute:

I lived in Munich for a long time, and many of the american tourists knew a lot more about beer than the locals.

They need to add the combo tool on this knife and mass produce it.  I love those scales, definitely the coolest 111mm scales yet!

Maybe the Victorinox line model will do exactly that.  I think it would be a great knife.  I suspect trying to keep the price down they excluded this, but we have to see the profile of the main-blade to know for sure.

Bring your own cheese knife to the party!

I was looking over the photos again, and can't really see the profile.

They could always add one more layer with both a normal blade and the combo tool, since we know those two fit together on other knives.  You would have:
- Cheese blade
- Bread blade
- Regular blade
- Combo tool
- Corkscrew
- Toothpick

This would be an amazing set of tools on a beautiful knife.  Definitely the foodie knife of choice.

Actually since they are not including tweezers I think they should include 2 toothpicks (cheese picks) rather than 1, that would improve it more than a third blade.  I'm sure they could profile the blade appropriately for the combo-tool if need be, not as nice but works fine.  For the commercial version they should also move to the DD-scales I like those much better than nylon, maybe rosewood would be the best.

It will be interesting to see what they do with this Cheese blade in the future.

As an owner of a Swiss Cheese knife.  These will come in handy at your favorite steakhouse.  Not only do a number steakhouses serve cheese(by the block) at their salad bar(s); but, sometimes their steak knives are so dull, I couldn't club you to death with them
