I remember the same tool usage images but with actual photos instead of drawings. Can't remember when/where I saw that

Ah, found :D

The recommended usage is OK, but would like to see added value... So anyone found new usage for existing tool, pic or explanation please...

I'm a Starbucksaholic, and if there's one thing that dives me ape it's when the relief hole in their lids isn't open enough and you can't sip the drink -- you have to suck. The awl is a lifesaver for reaming out the little pin hole to a size large enough to allow air flow. When I'm carrying a Yeoman I use the Phillips driver (which I actually filed to more of a point, anyway as I tend to see more fine screws than large ones in my day-to-day).

Hi,

This is my first post here. Great forum! I think I found something else that I don't ned to start collecting  ::)

I was trying to think of uses for the hook, which seems to be on almost every model and seems ( to me ) to have few uses. But I came up with this and tried it-- paint can opener. It worked well.

Welcome Seth!

You'll find the hook on all models after 1991 (I thinkf that is it), that have scissors.  No scissors... no hook.

Paint can opener sounds interesting, how did you use it?  I'd be inclined to just use the screwdriver on the cap-lifter but maybe that is not thick enough for the big cans.

We need to have a contest one day for new uses for the hook.

I would normally use a / the screwdriver too, but I don't like putting a lot of side leverage on the tools on my SAK.  I noticed that the hook somewhat resembled the shape of a paint can opener. So I tried it. Just place it in the groove sideways, then turn / twist it so the hook goes under the lip, and pry back on it. Do that in a couple spots and it should pop loose.

Most of the time if I was painting I would probably have a screwdriver or opener, but the idea just came to me for the hook.

With the exception of this Climber of course:

I agree!

It can remove shower drains:

Apart from that, I've never used the hook at all :ahhh

Thanks Reinier; Yes, thankfully, there seems to always be an exception when it come to SAKs.

Gotta Love the options!
