That sucks.  Let's hope they ran out of stock after all the MTO members snapped them up!

It appears the Blacktip is gone from West Marines website.
It's still listed on their website with "Limited availability" and still at the discounted price.

http://www.westmarine.com/multi-purpose-tools/blacktip--fisherman-s-ii-multi-tool--11752177

I have noticed that the "Performance Sailing Multi-Tool" which is made for West Marine by SOG is no longer listed though.

Just got my Blacktip in.  Very impressive.  Now I need to find the various paladin tools to complete the collection.

I don't have such multi-tool knife from SOG but from leatherman. But I have read the reviews of SOG multi-tool knives and they were pretty good. I am not sure about this multi-tool, but for the next purchase I have kept its hunting knives for my inventory.

They'll restock. :D They always do.

Prices vary from 40 something to as low as $27 last time (I think someone bought half a dozen once). I'm always tempted when there's one of these sales but cause of the size of it I doubt I'd ever actually use it.

WHS ^

I believe the BlackTip was made exclusively for West Marine, so when they do finally run out of stock I guess it will be whatever comes up on eBay etc.

That well may be. Here's what I received:

'Dear Dxxxxx,
thanks for contacting us. The Blacktip Fisherman is an old item currently on clearance, we have only few left now.'

I won't bet on this being re-stocked or not, but according to this message those few left are a pretty much it. And for a $31 + shipping for a full-size SOG it's a no-brainer in my books. I should have it in NZ for about $43 all inclusive, so ...yeah  ;)

First time I looked into owning one of those about 2 years ago they were $65 + shipping and that pretty much put me off back then.

If there's anyone in the UK, Ireland or Europe that fancies getting one of the Blacktips - can I jump in with you too.

Shipping will be far too high to justify ordering just one.

Anybody??
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Mate it was almost the price of the tool itself to ship to Aus/NZ...so I used my shipping address I set up in US. All in all it will cost me about $13 to reach my door.

I have plans to customize the blacktip to make it more useful.
Added a 3 parts to cart on SOG website, with shipping these three parts already cost as much as the blacktip itself... Never mind, since I will never carry it outside of my home, I guess I will just leave it alone.

I went through their checkout process & their cheapest shipping option too Oz came to around $51us + the tool cost.
Way to pricey for me.

Which parts? You can get some Harley Davidson marked ones from SMKW cheap. A buck or so. I'll search for links.
