Yeah, the whole SOG PowerAssist thing is definitely a solution in search of a problem. ::)

I have not actually found the chance to use my blacktip to date..

BTW  they're currently selling for 39 bucks at westmarine

Just got my Blacktip in.  Very impressive.  Now I need to find the various paladin tools to complete the collection.

I don't have such multi-tool knife from SOG but from leatherman. But I have read the reviews of SOG multi-tool knives and they were pretty good. I am not sure about this multi-tool, but for the next purchase I have kept its hunting knives for my inventory.

Prices vary from 40 something to as low as $27 last time (I think someone bought half a dozen once). I'm always tempted when there's one of these sales but cause of the size of it I doubt I'd ever actually use it.

Restock with what? This is it mate, NOS stuff as is, the Blacktip has been discontinued for some time now, has it not?

Well people have been buying them from WestMarine for years now. :shrug: I can't find any reference to it being disco'd.

I believe the BlackTip was made exclusively for West Marine, so when they do finally run out of stock I guess it will be whatever comes up on eBay etc.

thanks for contacting us. The Blacktip Fisherman is an old item currently on clearance, we have only few left now.'

I won't bet on this being re-stocked or not, but according to this message those few left are a pretty much it. And for a $31 + shipping for a full-size SOG it's a no-brainer in my books. I should have it in NZ for about $43 all inclusive, so ...yeah  ;)

Mate it was almost the price of the tool itself to ship to Aus/NZ...so I used my shipping address I set up in US. All in all it will cost me about $13 to reach my door.

I don't know how much "they" change you for shipping, but last time I shipped two MT to Aus only costed $16. :think:

I have plans to customize the blacktip to make it more useful.
Added a 3 parts to cart on SOG website, with shipping these three parts already cost as much as the blacktip itself... Never mind, since I will never carry it outside of my home, I guess I will just leave it alone.

I went through their checkout process & their cheapest shipping option too Oz came to around $51us + the tool cost.

Which parts? You can get some Harley Davidson marked ones from SMKW cheap. A buck or so. I'll search for links.
