PVC Sheath
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:05:19 PM »
I've been trying to make a sheath for the knife in this thread  :salute:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,18067.150.html

I had some 4''PVC waste pipe lying around in the garden, got to work with my hot air paint stripper (scorched it a bit  ::) )

Cut it out on my band saw  :tu:

Glued it together with some electrical PVC glue  :tu:

buggered it up as the glue didn't work so decided to use some brass screws
Then chipped little bits off the front of the handle trying out the fit  >:(

This is my first attempt, I was going to cover it with leather but the screws have stopped that idea, also I don't have any way of hanging this from my belt  :ahhh

As the thing was looking very tatty I decided to rub it down with my sander

That's a little outside my skill set
But then again, that's never stopped me in the past  :D

Very cool idea Tony :tu:

Can you use something like epoxy resin to attach a belt hanging loop?

I hope Landroza doesn't laugh too much  :D

I brought a patchwork brushed leather coat from a charity shop to make in to stuff (first was for Zed's 'Carrot knife')  :D

I don't have the patience or eyesight for sewing so got some glue out and started playing with the coat and its belt +1 magnet  ;)

The little flap over the back of the handle has a magnet glued inside the leather

I made one out of PVC before. I used cpvc/PVC glue and you couldn't make it come apart with a pry bar.

Tony your storm water pipe seems to be blocked with a great big chopper  :o :o :o.

Nice work Tony AGAIN  :D :D  :salute: :salute: :salute:.

That blue plumbers glue/cement I have used on PVC pipe connections is MIGHTY strong , especially when you have not got your connections lined up just right in time  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) :D :D
