I am invited to a BBQ this afternoon/evening in a field/garden a little way from the houses   :D

Last year around twenty adults (and 100 kids) were there complete with BBQ's, gas, lighters, meat, bread etc etc when someone asked 'has anyone got a knife'  ::) …..no not one knife between us apart from my poor little spartan   :(

he was used to cut open plastic packets, cut up sausages on a hot metal rack, cut raw meat, cut cooked meat etc etc

So last night I thought I will take a knife from my projects box with me bearing in mind it might get knackered, lost in the grass etc

Think I need a sheath

Sorted, just need to try it out now  :tu:

I suddenly feel like I need to go melt some PVC. And buy a fixed blade to shove into it.

Actually now I'm sitting here staring at every EDC-ish item I own wondering what needs a new "kydex" sheath lol.

Actually the biggest draw is that I have access to the materials for free :)

It's the heat gun I dont have :( And Im not about to have to move into my car for using the oven.

Oh I know heat guns are cheap as dirt, but what I have in mind will need some Dremmeling as well and I discovered mine died  ::). I do have a design in my head for a PVCdex SwissChamp sheath.

And yes, PVC is nasty cancer-inducing stuff. But then so is tire smoke and McDonalds and it's never stopped me from enjoying a nice burnout in the drive through  :D

A belt sander and a band saw work well on PVC  ;)

 :worthless:

I never had a car powerful enough to smoke the tires, but i guess it´s kinda like teh same thing when doing one beside teh campfire/barbecue at your birthday party while one of your guests is odoing one inside on teh dancefloor....  :D

Not pretty but they cover the sharp and pointy stuff I seem to have amassed recently.  This makes walking into the garage safer.  I would normally make stuff out of leather, but, well this was quicker and as they are only for use in the garden function was the order of the day.

Sorted :D

It doesn't have to be a pretty thing, it's all about very lost cost and high function. This PVC business certainly does the job :tu:

For garden stuff I guess PVC is way more practical than leather. Nice with something that isn't affected much by dirt or moisture.

hahaha... took me a while to revisit this post. I'd share my beer with tony tho. Gotta be a bit crazy to come up with insanely brilliant remedies ... like PVC sheath solutions. I'm gonna try my hand at it and make my own I just hope I don't end up hurting myself hehe

Cheers,
Gabriel

How about a scabbard for a chainsaw bar? The ones that come from the factory crack, and take a lot of  abuse from the chain, just stumbled across these cool creations, cool ideas man :tu:
