Hi,

What is the meaning of "cree" with regard to flashlights.  I ask as I have a Leatherman Monarch 500 CREE LED on the way to me.

I appreciate your help (I'm a mini-maglite survivor) - Joe

I like the 700 so much more than the 800.

On the way I have a Gerber MP600. And in about a week, I'l have a new Pentagonlight on the way!

I also have a Topo Meridian and a Gerber Double-Take coming from my uncle. When I visited the Bass Pro shop he works at, I found them, and I wanted to buy them (I swore it would be my last big purchase until my Strad  :twak: ). My uncle gets an employee discount of 10 percent, but he said if I didn't mind waiting a few days, his extra discount days started the day after I left, and he could get it for a lot less, and then ship it to me. So I'm waiting for them, but I get 25 instead of 10 percent off! Since he lives and works in Missouri, it was all American dollars, and the total price of the Topo and Gerber together was just shy of 100USD, but once you take off the 25 percent, it is about as much as a Topo without a discount, so it's like I'm buying the Topo and getting the Gerber for free!

The Topo is one of my favorite knives, and I liked the Gerber because I use both serrated and straight edge blades very often, but it is difficult to find them both in a single package without buying a multitool, so I will likely carry this when I can't carry a multitool, and when I expect to use both a serrated and non-serrated knife blade.

They also had a lady with a grinder that would sharpen any knife for 1 to 4 American dollars (depending on the size) and I got a couple of my knives sharpened (I am very bad at sharpening knives, I usually end up making them more dull). She also sharpened the double edge on my Powerlock (I got it double-ground originally, but it wasn't very sharp).

This post is unneccesarily long... :twak:

WhichDawg is correct.

CREE from what I understand specialise in making very bright, efficient, reliable LED's. And other semiconductors (I think )

Unfortunately nothing is winging its way to me, the purse strings have been tightened recently so i can afford to buy some christmas pressies for people. Hopefully after christmas i will be able to treat myself to something full of tools. Mind you i did just buy a F1 so i can't complain too much!

I did yes.  :(  It's not a bad tool -far from it, but, it did have a number of things I didn't like which put me off and in the end I just didn't use it.

That's the main reason why I bought the supertool.  To replace the powerlock.
I'm back!!

As our postal delivery time differs from one day to the next and as I can't spend all day monitoring the arrival or otherwise of our postman I check the post box as & when it's convenient, hence 2 or 3 times a day.

So if I check at 10am and the post box is empty, unless the lane I live on is covered in red elastic bands, I have no way of knowing if the postman has indeed been but not left anything for me so I will check again later in the day.

 :mail:Subcom F arrived yesterday
