I tried showing her Dan's collection and she said..."so that's how you'll end up"...in my mind I was thinking "I hope so"

I was in buying mode yesterday, so i ordered one of this cheap little hatchets to toy around.

http://www.ebay.de/itm/NEW-8-25-Mtech-Xtreme-Tan-G10-Handle-Axe-Hatchet-Multi-functional-Tomahawk-/400748167773?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d4e73c25d

At least it has 3 wrenches in it - that makes it a Multitool  :D - sort of a slighly bigger one piece tool.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

They write the throwing thing on the german ebay listing - but they also said it´s a 440C.

Not sure how it would act in real when thrown ..... short handle and weight overall would make me assume it´s a bad throwing piece of metal  - but on the other hand i smurf on throwing knives and axes, so what do i know.

I just liked it´s look.  :gimme:
Have fun.

Congratulations.   :tu:

There sure are some good people here on MTo (although some may say they are also "enablers" of our addiction.  Speaking of which, do you have a Gerber MP400 fisherman as well ?   And then there are the Winchester and Renegade copies ........    :pok:

Kershaw Torx T-tool came in today. Little lighter than I expected, but its a good size to ride with my Compact. I just need to put a #2ph and probably 4 or 5mm straight blade in there rather than the stubby torx bits.

Almost  - there is also a Renegade Fisherman MT  :pok:  These look like they are made in the same factory as the Carolina & Winchester copies of Mr Pinchies(ie cheaply made Gerber Multi-Pliers). Mind you, someone in the USPS must have thought they were pretty good, as the first one I bought "went missing" somewhere and never got to the specified address.  >:(

And just to show I'm a proper MTo enabler, here's a used one that's currently available for only $19.95 including US shipping (usual ebay caveats apply, no connection with seller, cannot vouch for them etc etc) :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301256129148

And on a completely unrelated tangent (but still on topic), I have a Leatherman JPST version 5 (US PAT 1325473) on the way which has hollow rivets (most of my version 5's have solid rivets).  :)

I have a wave on its way.  I also have one of the last of my bucket list MTs on the way, a KF4!!!!  Never had one.  That only leaves the Japan PST, the juice pro, and the flair.  I have had all the others(minus variants)that I have wanted.  I still might try to grab the pruning tools though.

I actually love my RR Peanuts,  which one did you get?  I have the stonworx, and the abalone (immitation of course)

Got it in brown jigged bone.

Really pleased with this.  Slightly smaller that I was anticipating, but as I was looking for a small traditional folder that would disappear in my pocket, I don't know it could have been any better. :)

glad you like it,  and it is small, until you open the blade   :o  then it seems bigger than expected.  for the money, I love the RR brand.

Nice little knife Gareth.  :tu:  Peanuts are a nice pattern, and Rough Rider makes great everyday user slipjoints.  I've got one of their Barlows in my pocket right now.

I'm starting to think my Leatherman ES4 is never going to arrive!  It's been like 3 weeks and 3 emails to the seller with no reply. I think a trip to the resolution centre is not too far away...

the Skinth is hand made, I know it is slow in coming, but it will be worth the wait.  you will get an email once it ships out to you.  just so you know it is a one person company,  you are getting artisan work, so like I said.  It will be worth the wait.

First i was hesitant about these cheap stuff, but then i ordered the hatchet just for it´s look, to toy around a little bit  - and the curiosity didn´t kill the cat.
Indeed the hatchet is nice, i wish i had one of them in my backpack while on duty. It´s really, really small, so for sure nothing for what we call "Pioniere", i think it´s called "engineers corps" in US. Nothing to build a bridge from wood or anything else - but it would have been great to chop the smaller stuff to create the hiding shelters we used to build for sniping purpose. Or for chopping small wood for a little fire.

It has a wide hollow ground edge, more knifelike than a big splitting axe. Due to it´s grip shape it can also be held like a sort of pushdagger, like a Inuit Ulu.

Made from 5,2mm steel, "full tang" with G10 scales. And it came sharp enough to shave parts of my arm, no matter if it´s really is made from 440C as mentioned.

The sheath is pretty sturdy, i would guess on its thinnest part as thick as the Leatherman molle sheats on their thickest part.

Well, chinese or not .... i liked it enough to want a accompanying fixed blade.  :D

Same basic concept - 4,8mm full tang 440C with G10 scales, 8,3" over all with 3 3/4" blade.
This kind of stuff can be a sort of hit or miss - but if it is made equal to the hatchet, i will be pleased.  :tu:
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

I ordered a Juice S2, should be here tomorrow.  I know the Juice has it's issues...but I got a good deal and wanted to at least see for myself.  If I like it, it's going in the hiking bag with the SAK bushcrafter and Mora.

I love the space pen.  I built mine using a medium fisher refill placed in a zebra F701 pen, and replaced the clicky with a metal one from a zebra f401 for an all metal indestructable pen.

In addition to knives SAKs and MTs, pens are another thing I collect. I find the Fisher ones to be the best value for the money, especially if you get them off eBay or Amazon. Don't buy directly from their website.
