Why didn't they put that good file in the PS4? Would have been so much better... like the look of this one though :)

Andreas posted on the Leatherman facebook page claiming that they stole his idea.
His version did have a knife blade, the PS4 does not have a knife blade. Still Leatherman holds a patent on their tools for a reason.

After pointing out the basics of patent laws his post vanished. Guess he didn't wish to discuss it.

Many people  have suggested the Squirt P4/PS4 pliers on that since it came out. Don't think anyone has a claim on it. Still... he who holds the patent wins.

Unfortunately, patent law in America is a very broken system.  As it currently stands, it allows for designs that are too general and can encompass any range of 'similar' ideas.  This has created what's called the 'patent troll' industry; companies that do nothing more than patent any idea they can get away with, and then scan products on the market that use a similar idea, then sue that company for using "their" idea.

And unfortunately, because of the fact that big corporations control the supreme court and political system, I doubt these facts will change any time soon.

Yeah I agree, I am not a fan of the PS4 file, the Stlye CS file is better.

I liked the file on the Squirt S4 / Micra better myself. Thar file doesn't make for a great screwdriver anyhow. On my Style CS I filed it over to mimic the finger nail cleaner version ... cause I hates dirt/grease under my nails. /eww

I'm not so sure I want one of these anymore; not that it wouldn't be nice to have, but in general, a blade (even a small one like what's on the CS) is more useful to me than pliers.  I honestly just don't need the pliers all that much.  If I had my druthers, I'd have the PS without the file and a blade instead, like above.  Oh well.

Off to find a Leatherman PS. I got a Leatherman CS about 4 months ago because I liked the scissors however I also carry a knife so the CS knife never sees use. The PS would meet my needs perfectly. Do the pliers seem adequate to do light duty tasks, or are they flimsy?
How can I justify my next multitool?

Ordered one earlier today from Swiss Knife Shop. Hopefully I'll have it by the weekend.
