Not MT specific, but I couldn't resist:

If you listen real close you can hear the sound of a washing machine full of money in the background...

I think I read that it is something to do with keeping an ebay place-holder for an item that they don't currently have for sale but expect to sell again in the future.  If someone is crazy enough to buy they just cancel the transaction (and refund if the buyer was totally off their face and actually paid the stupid amount).

Want to pay $300.00 for a used PST? Well here is your chance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/R...&hash=item3ccda98bc3.   If I remember correctly this started at $245 and has been going up to its present price.

Maybe if it does not sell for awhile he will raise it to $ 500?  He must think it is worth a lot of money to re-profile the blade.

Do a quick search for Leatherman OHT on ebay US. if you check the completed sales people are regularly paying over $100 for them with many sales at $130 to $149.

I don't get it. You can buy them online or at REI all day for $82

Why would people pay this much?

Not from Ebay but a Turkish store....
....This is the price for a SWISSCHAMP...
...(Here costs over $100)

Edit: it really IS as expensive as swisschamp?!

A bit too overpriced IMO.
