No locking collar in the closed position

Well, I learned something.  All of mine lock closed.  You don't want that opening in your pocket, eh?  Wise of you do mod it.

My older Opinel does not have a cutout for locking in the closed position.

UGH what a dunce.  I posted wrong pic hahaha.

Capt. neither did these.  I had to mod the "ramp" that locks the blade when closed.

Finally got around to putting a real edge on my Opie.

Wow this thing is sharp. Has replaced my HAP Delica as the sharpest thing I own. Didn't even put that steep of an angle on it, only about 40 degrees.

Nice. I actually don't mind not having the closed lock.

I didn't mind till the one in the pic slightly opened while in pocket.  Its an older one so the blade is a tad loose.  My other one is solid.  I saw a neat kydex sheath for Opinels.  Looked to be one for the keychain tho.

The Tanto blade was something imposed for a challenge it was built for (and won it btw), Carving process took me a while before having this bamboo-like result :)

Can't a mod be original?  True, that sounds like a contradiction, I mean, err, if it's original it isn't a mod and if it's a mod it's not original.........   I don't know anymore

Great pics E-Mizzle! I'm glad you got to grips with photobucket otherwise you wouldn't have had an 'opinel'. Should I get my coat?

i wouldn't be giving up the day job Mags . . . . these pics are dedicated to you - my opinel would still be gathering dust if you hadn't tempted me to dig it out, and it is one nice knife, been using it for food prep the last week or two.

I picked up a number 8 Opinel to see what they were all about.  It's a really good slicer but I found it to be too short for food prep - I hate getting food all over the handle, and in the pivot.  So ordered a number 12 slim ().  Been using it a couple of weeks, really liking it - nice and light, slices really well, and is easy to keep sharp.

Never heard of the slim before. What a great knife for food prep like you said.
