TT PocketTools!
« on: August 24, 2011, 01:00:25 AM »
When the link to the new TT PocketTools went live, I had to have them.  All 4 of them.   Four new one piece tools!  The splurge cost me $82 dollars but it was worth it :mail:

They arrived today and I had to put at least one of them to work. >:D

But first, some pictures:

Here are 3 in their bags and the 4th out on the bed.  It was this tool I used this evening.

Tool:

And it's labeled bag (A very nice touch!)

All the tools out in the wild:

Here's a comparison shot with an Atwood Chigger and G5 Prybaby:

The comment came up about thickness of the tools.  Compared to a Chigger:

And next to a Roid Rench (my favorite EDC Atwood)

The finish on these tools is superb.  The prytip is a little sharp, but will work as a scraper extremely well.

So how'd it perform?  The bottle opener works.  The fulcrum is short so it takes some force, but no slipping on bottle caps.  The wrench is excellent on the TT-Chopper (don't quite get the name); the grip assist is perfectly placed for application of force.  The TT-Keeper has much larger wrenches.  Shorter fulcrum, but it holds tightly to the nut.  It will function fine on low torqued nuts or to hold a spinning nut.

I don't know how functional the Skull will be but it makes an awesome keychain dangle.

For me:  The Chopper is going on the keychain and we'll give it a proper work out.  :D

I like his tools, it's a shame that he doesn't make them with metric wrenches.
:D I didn't see that edcgear posted the same thing

Sharp looking. Pun intended. But there's always the possibility of hitting the box cutter and the pry tip a bit with a sharpening stone to individual preferences.

I'm sitting on the fence regarding the Chopper and eagerly await your field experience.

BTW, seems as if the design changed from symmetrical to asymmetrical like the Atwood wrenches?!

Though living in metric land, I have to admit that the non-metric wrenches aren't much of a disadvantage to me. EDC a Gen3 Prybaby on my keychain since years and all I ever use (albeit often) is the smallest wrench size for hex bits. These tools obviously have that covered.

Quick update:

The prytip is actually ground to be a standard screwdriver as well.  On the Chopper an Keeper it works very well.  The wrenches fit snugly.  And the bottle openers work great.

On the Keeper, the opener works a little better.  Also, the box opener is semi sharpened so it actually will function as a utility blade for string and cord.  The wrenches are also much larger than the Chopper tool. For the farm setting, the Keeper is a definitely a keeper.  The Chopper has smaller wrenches and would be better suited to electronics work, I think.

The small size is a definite plus IMO.

Well my two arrived today. Not bad to the uk. Well I say two but the wife has claimed the skull tool. Still leaves me with the chopper. Not used too much on it just the bottle opener, which I can say works well.

Damn you Nate, I now have a Chopper and simple on the way, my first venture into one piece tool too.  :-[

Side note my chopper is magnetic. Anyone else's?

Suppose to be magnetic, it's a knife steel.

I have only recently thought about changing up my EDC for work and I am glad to have found the discussions about the Pocket Tools web site. Just bought the Chopper and now I think I will have to order the others  :)

Got mine two today, first thought, they are well made though a little lacking on details, but jeez these are really small. I have no doubt they are strong enough due to their thickness, and knows their specs before hand, but look how tiny they are in my hands! If they are scaled up to 3" long they'd be a lot more respectable.

Going to put the smaller one on my keys, and see how the work out.

Hit the charity shops today looking for leather to recycle. Found the mother load in a pair of bike trousers. Medium size so never going to fit me but really good quality leather. Came home and made this from some thicker leather I already had plus a small piece taken from inside the front pocket.

And yes the chopper tool does come out
