2011 22nd Jamboree Knives
on: September 24, 2011, 09:19:40 PM
This Swiss contingent Jamboree knife is really nice.  I think Victorinox has updated their inlay equipment, or maybe they found a new supplier for the metal inlays.  Besides the really large inlay on the MEC Anniversary knife, at least a couple of the Jamboree knives have really nice detailed inlays that are textured in ways I have not seen in the past.  This Swiss Contingent Camper model has a geometric textured pattern on the inlay, while the Honk Kong one appears to have even a more sophisticated varing engraved like texture.

The other really interesting thing is this knife has not one large continous inlay, but several separate inlays.  This is why I think they must have new equipment, as well as new inlay material.

Anyone have any of the Jamboree Knives or examples of textured inlays?

Oooh, that's pretty. I was at the 1993 US Jamboree. We didn't get any special gear like that. My sharps on that trip were an old Buck Model 486 and an Arisaka bayonet that we use to cut watermelons  ::).

Very nice, on that close up of the metal inlay it looks like it has the same pattern as what you find on a head gasket set of a car.  :D
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time
