Jigsaw blades for Surge ?
on: July 04, 2012, 10:40:06 AM
I have a sparkly new Surge on its way and was wondering if anyone has found a brand of jigsaw blades that are an exact/very good/best fit.

I'd like to carry a metal cutting blade in my kit :)

Bosch seem to be the best fit.

Thanks for the replies :)

Would be nice if I could find somewhere that sells them singly and not in the blister packs so I could try a few out and give feedback ??

Jigsaw blades come in either T shank (Leatherman adapter) or U shank (Gerber adapter), as long as you get the correct type it should be universal fit. The blades made for jigsaw are thinner than the two come with surge, many people put tape on the end to make it thicker so it wouldn't rattle.

Does this mean there's some play during use ?

The bosch saws are thinner than the original ones by about 1mm causing blade play. You can solve that with some tape or a thin metal shim or something.

I used some heat shrink tube on the metal blades to get a good fit, you MAY have to shave off a bit of it once it's all shrunk.

Why stop now?

The blades usually have a "T" followed by 2 numbers at the back like T18 or something like that. I think that specify the thickness... I think..
