My idea of cool EDC setup
on: October 09, 2011, 12:42:14 PM
So I've been thinking about some cool EDC setups and came with this idea.

- HigoNoKami knife with brass liners
- Brass Zippo
- Brass Maratac AAA Light
- Brass CC Emabssy Pen
- Custom SAK Alox w/brass liners and clip

At the moment I have a HigoNoKami knife and custom SAK w/brass liners and some more brass on it (on way)... I'll start looking for rest of setup...

Too bad there is no brass MT, but I think making Wave or Charge w/brass liners wouldn't be to hard (except I have no experience in modding at all :D :D )...

Now what I'm looking for is your oppinion on this... What do you think should be included, wallets, other pens, knives, MT's, watches, other EDC gear... It should be full or partial brass made (copper is welcome also).

Also vintage and steampunk is welcome. So let's hear your ideas! Pics are more than welcome!!  :D :pok: :pok:   :salute: :tu:

A while ago i made a brass pocket clip simply by beating a 2mm sheet into shape using a hammer, bench vise and an old drill bit shank:

It shows the forming marks but a bit of texture can add a certain something.

Metropolicity was considering having a run of waterjetted bronze Charge liners (scales) made which ought to be a straight forward swap, so no excessive experience needed to fit them.

One way to uber brassify some of your already brass items could be to add mosaic pins, simply drill a well sized hole, press in the pin along with some epoxy then sand and polish flush with the surroundings. the black of the filler helps enhance the brass' (and/or coppers) colour and adds a focus point on larger surfaces.

Have you looked into Sunshine products at all? They make a killer brass pen and other brassy items. Wouldn't a brass peanut lighter be killer?

A long time ago i designed a pair of sunglasses with gears:

They have two polarised lenses in each side so by rotating the outer lense could change the amount of light allowed through. The gears keep both sides at the same orientation. The holes are for attaching a leather glare sheild similar to skiing sunglasses.

I hate to think how much they would have weighed, but perhaps they would have brought a smile to Brunels weary heart.

They could be quite useable if you replaced brass with some light alloy or plastic.

Good idea, cool looking glasses

Those gears do something.  That's allowed ;)

Just needs hooking up to a light sensor and motor.  Now that would add some weight :D
