Mine does have the same play. I have had it for several months and use it quite often and this play remains the same since I bought it. It happens only at the closed position but when the pliers is deployed everything fits perfectly.
I haven't tried to do anything to fix it. I live far away from any leatherman dealer and to me this play isn't enough as to sending it out and waiting for it to get back.
Its reassuring to know this SurivStud. I do have 10 days to return my item if there's manufacturing defect so I'm checking around if this is something unusual for a Wingman. I'm now reading the reviews over at Amazon as well

I have a Wingman clipped on my tool bag.  Have had for over a year.  The tools are all solid, yet the handles have the same flex as your video shows.  A good tool with the scissors.
I rely on the needle nose for gripping 18 and 23 gauge wire since my fingers have trouble fitting in holding till tight on many a connector I am terminating.

In this YouTube video, the reviewer did mention about the play compared to his Wave (around the 8:00 minute timeline)

Also, got an email reply from Leatherman about the wiggle

Thanks again everyone!

I know, is the acute disseminated multitools desease which makes me feel "those are all the tools you need" by now, but soon will make me feel "you need one more for this other type or situations"

I'll stay in control with these three. I am quite sure I won't find in my country a good enough deal as to make me buy another one.
Stay on MTO,  I am sure you cant control....   :multi:

You were right.
But now I am sure, these are the ones I need. These four beautiful Multitools are all the pieces I need... I know... I am positive on this...  don't need any other MT.
Há!

I really like how smooth my Wingman is as there is no sharp edge or corner!

Question: do you lubricate your Leatherman? I read somewhere someone saying WD40 is not advisable, and better use silicon oil. What's a silicon oil?

Actually, The manufacturer suggests to use a water displacing product such as WD40 at their maintenance tips page:

"After cleaning, re-oil pivoting areas with a light machine or penetrating type oil (such as WD-40)"
And

"After cleaning, dry your Leatherman and apply a light machine oil or a water-displacing product (WD-40) "

https://www.leatherman.com/maintenance.html

I would use just that.

Anyone?

I use wd40 on work duty leathermans.
These tools get wet and dirty daily.
At the end of the week they get washed off, spayed with wd40 and thrown back in the tool bucket.

My edc leathermans get whatever is handy.
Engine oil, nano oil, 3 in 1 machine oil etc etc.

I do not think you will.  I have a Rebar, ST300 and Wave, as well the Sidekick and Wingman.
My Wingman rides in side pocket of tool grip and ready full time.  The others ride in sheaths and not always with me daily.

Nano oil and 3 in 1 machine oil don't smell nearly as bad as engine oil and wd40 - something to consider if you work inside or around other people.

Wipe down the tools and apply to pivot points.  The outer surfaces of handles not so much.
A slippery tool can be a dangerous tool, or accident about to occur.

Another low order option is mineral oil, I use to wipe down higher carbon type tools, not always my SS leather mans that frequently unless nothing else is handy on job site.

Mineral oil also works good on my cutting boards, drives my wife nuts, thinking I used a gun oil on her meal prep accessories,

As the others have said; give the Wingman a fair chance, you might be pleasantly surprised.  It will likely feel "different" to your other LM, but I still like my Sidekick very much.

Got a can of CRC 808 silicone that I use on rubik's cubes. Works good on door hinges and locks. Haven't tried it on a multitool yet though, maybe I should.

On second thoughts I will try it now with my OHT...

By the way, my family just received a large cash gift and I suddenly had an impulse to buy another Leatherman. I did a quick research and considered getting a Charge Tti, Surge, Wave and Rebar. I was already in the Leatherman shop and about to buy a Surge when the wife said to think about it more. So I just postponed my purchase and bought a leather pouch in the meantime.

Since I really don't use my multitools much, I couldn't find a good enough reason to upgrade...for now.

I really like the size, pocket clip, scissors and springed pliers of my Wingman!

Big fan of both the Sidekick and Wingman.  I got a Wave very shortly after having the other tools and what I can tell you is this, its AWESOME.  I later got a Surge and well, its, AWESOMER.

IMO being a light user of your MT doesn't negate having either the Wave or Surge.  Its more about capability.  My suggestion would be if you end up deciding on either the Wave or Surge be sure to get the bit cards and extender.

Your wife is smart.  Avoid impulse buying.
A Wave is a baby Surge.

Charge Tti is  an expensive Wave, IMHO.

Do right by your needs and family.  No need to impress us virtual friends, we accept you for just having interest!

Of course a Picture of leather pouch will will help calm my buying impluse

So far it's all good. No problems with the oht after it's silicone bath. Still early days yet though.

I agree with what LoopCutter has said. Needs over wants. And take your time to choose a multitool, no rushing needed.

If you must treat yourself then consider something like a rambler (victorinox) or i3s (olight) for your key ring, less expensive and still very useful.

Hello good Wingman/Sidekick owners. I bought a Wingman from Walmart.ca last week. It sure comes in some unusually tough packaging.

I haven't opened it yet, but notice odd rust like color between the printed letters on the handles. There's also circles of this color on the handles around the pivot screws. Below is a close up photo.

Do you think this is rust?  It also kind of looks like it could be stamped plated metal with a copper colored core and a silver color plated surface. Anyone know?

Thanks
