Here's mine.  This knife was purchased off EBAY about a year ago for about $34.  So it certainly could have been modified.  However,  if the scissors were filed, whomever did a machine shop quality job.

The reason I alluded to 1972 is because I saw a magazine ad showing the then, new style scissors, dated that year.  At least that's what I believe I remember.  Field & Stream oe maybe Boys Life.

In fact, 2 patents exist :

- the first 1972 for scissors (1st version) : http://www.jcfiguet.com/FCS/Wenger/Brevets/1972_Ciseaux/04-09-1972 CH555730A.pdf

- the second of 1973 with addition of a bevel spring-loaded scissors : http://www.jcfiguet.com/FCS/Wenger/Brevets/1973_Ciseaux/13-03-1973 CH561588.pdf

Perhaps, there was a transition from the first type scissors to the newer ones, which included a version without serrations.

Are the blades sharp? Some have unsharpened blades.

Might be a mod, could we get a closeup of the peening on the pins.

I have a 1.02.03 Standard and the scissors are not serrated. The "no backtools" scales could come from a Diplomat or Apprentice.

Would be not a bad option to add scissors to your EDC if you had something like a Rebar as a MT.

Didn't you guys see that?

Photos of the two 1.02.03 Standard Wengers I have... the first has NO SERRATIONS and the scissors are flat.
The second DOES have serrations and the blades are beveled.

And an excellent lesson it is too, Professor.  Also, some of what seem to be the earliest ads for the new scissors don't mention serrations or self-sharpening.

Nope, first time for me. Maybe before the Suisse crosbow shield. Late 40s early 50s? Just guessing though.

Yes !

I saw this logo on knives of 1951 (only this year)

But it could be early or later...

This logo with "Wenger" and the Crossbow is very rare on scales...

Hi. Excuse my English. I looked at knife blades. They are ground, but not the ideally sharp. It is heavy to open and close.

Good informations on the scissors, thanks

I think I read somewhere that only the older models, the ones not available for general sale but only for distributors, had the blades not sharpened.
I don't have a Giant, so I can't confirm
Nice find, by the way!

I did once buy 2 unsharpened Rangers in a closeoiut sale - I suppose they were sales samples, too.

So I guess it is time to open the lesson again :D...
... because I had a look at some of my Wenger's

First knife from the left has newer style scissors, with the blade "beveled".
Second and third knife (from the left) have the older "flat" scissors.

All the scissors have serrations ("flat" and "beveled")!
You can see here: flat scissors---serration

That's what I like to collect, tool iterations.  Wenger is great for compasses, wood saws and apparently, scissors.  I saw one of the old flat scissors, serrated, like Basilio's above, at the state surplus store Monday.  It has a 5 turn cork screw.  It was in terrible condition, not worth 5 bucks, but I may go back and get it for the scissors.

We need to figure out the dates for these various scissor iterations.

Sorry if this makes little sense.  I am hysterical this evening.

I don't know. Asked about rarity/scarcity in another thread but it's an excellent combination of tools/features in a nice 85mm size. It's growing on me...might see some light duty. :tu:
